It approaches politico-religious ideological responses and structures of symbolism through the study of sacred landscapes, specific iconographic elements, and archaeological contexts and architecture, as well as through textual and epigraphic evidence. A fresh approach to the transition is put forward, connecting the island more emphatically with its longue durée. Moving beyond the field of Cypriot studies, this work also serves as a paradigm for the study of religion in relation to social power in other fields of classics and, in particular, for the enrolment of other areas of the Mediterranean into the political and cultural Hellenistic oikoumene. 410 0$aMnemosyne, Supplements$v347. 606 $aReligion and politics$zCyprus 606 $aReligion and sociology$zCyprus 606 $aArchaeology and religion$zCyprus 606 $aIron age$zCyprus 606 $aBODY, MIND & SPIRIT / Spirituality / Paganism & Neo-Paganism$2bisacsh 606 $aRELIGION / Antiquities & Archaeology$2bisacsh 607 $aCyprus$xAntiquities 607 $aCyprus$xCivilization 607 $aMediterranean Region$xCivilization$xGreek influences 615 0$aReligion and politics 615 0$aReligion and sociology 615 0$aArchaeology and religion 615 0$aIron age 615 7$aBODY, MIND & SPIRIT / Spirituality / Paganism & Neo-Paganism 615 7$aRELIGION / Antiquities & Archaeology 676 $a292.00939 676 $a292.009393709014 700 $aPapantoniou$b Giorgos$0721758 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996237243403316 996 $aReligion and social transformations in Cyprus$91410649 997 $aUNISA
