The Fasti treats the calendar, recently revised by Caesar and Augustus, as its most important cultural model and as a quasi-literary 'intertext': the poem simultaneously reshapes and is itself shaped by the calendar. The study includes chapters on Book 4 and the rites of April, on the addition of Julio-Claudian holidays to the calendar, and on the final two books of the poem as shaped by the renaming of the months Quintilis and Sextilis for Julius Caesar and Augustus. 410 0$aMnemosyne, bibliotheca classica Batava.$pSupplementum ;$vc. 276. 606 $aDidactic poetry, Latin$xHistory and criticism 606 $aLiterature and society$zRome 606 $aFasts and feasts in literature 606 $aCalendar in literature 606 $aTime in literature 607 $aRome$xIn literature 615 0$aDidactic poetry, Latin$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aLiterature and society 615 0$aFasts and feasts in literature. 615 0$aCalendar in literature. 615 0$aTime in literature. 676 $a871/.01 700 $aPasco-Pranger$b Molly$0596644 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996237236903316 996 $aFounding the year$92048015 997 $aUNISA
