It is true that the necessary translations were published, but home-grown products seem almost non-existent. This introductory study defends the claim that this situation changed during the 1950s. Initially, Willem Frederik Hermans and Gerard van het Reve in particular appropriate literary strategies and motifs from the Gothic tradition, later Hella Haasse, Helga Ruebsamen, Renate Dorrestein, Vonne van der Meer, Frans Kellendonk, Thomas Rosenboom and Herman Franke, among others. In this respect, Dutch literature is part of an extensive international trend. 606 $aGothic revival (Literature)$zNetherlands 606 $aDutch fiction$y20th century$xHistory and criticism 610 $aculture and instituten 610 $aliteratuur en rhetorica 610 $aculture and history 610 $aliterature (belles lettres) and rhetoric 610 $acultuur and geschiedenis 610 $aculture and institutions 615 0$aGothic revival (Literature) 615 0$aDutch fiction$xHistory and criticism. 676 $a839.3/109/003 700 $aBuikema$b Rosemarie$0800829 702 $aWesseling$b Lies$4auth 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bUkMaJRU 912 $a996204163303316 996 $aHet heilige huis$92099125 997 $aUNISA
