Probably more than most of his fellow traders, he had a strong interest in Navajo culture. He published in the local newspaper and other periodicals and compiled many of his pieces into a book manuscript. His subjects were Navajos he knew and traded with, their stories of historic events such as the Long Walk, and descriptions of their culture as he, an outsider without academic training, understood it. 606 $aIndian traders$zNew Mexico$zShiprock Region$xHistory 606 $aTrading posts$zNew Mexico$zShiprock Region$xHistory 606 $aNavajo weavers$zNew Mexico$zShiprock Region$xHistory 606 $aNavajo Indians$zNew Mexico$zShiprock Region$xSocial life and customs 606 $aNavajo Indians$zNew Mexico$zShiprock Region$xHistory 607 $aShiprock Region (N.M.)$xSocial life and customs 607 $aShiprock Region (N.M.)$xHistory 615 0$aIndian traders$xHistory. 615 0$aTrading posts$xHistory. 615 0$aNavajo weavers$xHistory. 615 0$aNavajo Indians$xSocial life and customs. 615 0$aNavajo Indians$xHistory. 676 $a979.1004/9726 700 $aEvans$b Will$f1877-1954$01248897 701 $aMcPherson$b Robert S.$f1947-$0801369 701 $aWoods$b Susan E$g(Susan Evans),$f1952-$0983867 801 0$bMdBmJHUP 801 1$bMdBmJHUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996201990203316 996 $aAlong Navajo Trails$92894379 997 $aUNISA
