This detailed and lively scene seems natural to today's viewer and yet there are only a few comparable representations. Paintings and graphics from the late Middle Ages to the late 19th century show the iconography of the playing child as well as common play and living environments and make it clear that rooms have only been given the function attribution of a children's room for more than 200 years. This is closely related to a changing assessment of childhood and child's play, which has a noticeable impact on the display modes and contexts. To what extent Uhde's "nursery" can be connected with the everyday life of middle-class children illustrate technical and written traditions. They provide insights into the distribution and furnishing of nurseries, common games and toys as well as children's clothing in the 19th century. With this interdisciplinary research approach, the study paints a comprehensive and vivid picture of past childhood life.. 606 $aChildren in art 606 $aPainting, German$y19th century 608 $bElectronic books. 615 0$aChildren in art. 615 0$aPainting, German 676 $a704.9425 700 $aHoke$b Sarah$0801037 702 $aUhde$b Fritz von$f1848-1911, 801 0$bPQKB 801 2$bAuAdUSA 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996201651703316 996 $aFritz von Uhdes "kinderstube"$92021994 997 $aUNISA
