The fifteen essays in this volume address all aspects of Hume's thought. The picture of him that emerges is that of a thinker who, though often critical to the point of scepticism, was nonetheless able to build on that scepticism a constructive, viable, and profoundly important view of the world. Also included in this volume are Hume's two brief autobiographies and a bibliography suited to those beginning their study of Hume. This second edition of one our most popular Companions includes six new essays and a new introduction, and the remaining essays have all been updated or revised. 410 0$aCambridge companions to philosophy. 676 $a192 686 $a08.24$2bcl 702 $aNorton$b David Fate 702 $aTaylor$b Jacqueline Anne$f1957- 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996201150603316 996 $aCambridge Companion to Hume$9467260 997 $aUNISA 999 $aThis Record contains information from the Harvard Library Bibliographic Dataset, which is provided by the Harvard Library under its Bibliographic Dataset Use Terms and includes data made available by, among others the Library of Congress LEADER 05479oam 22013214 450 001 9910970773203321 005 20251116163711.0 010 $a9786612843846 010 $a9781462327515 010 $a1462327516 010 $a9781452702643 010 $a1452702640 010 $a9781451873184 010 $a1451873182 010 $a9781282843844 010 $a1282843842 035 $a(CKB)3170000000055324 035 $a(EBL)1608400 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000941801 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11614165 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000941801 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10964435 035 $a(PQKB)10186145 035 $a(OCoLC)649029507 035 $a(IMF)WPIEE2009171 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1608400 035 $a(IMF)WPIEA2009171 035 $aWPIEA2009171 035 $a(EXLCZ)993170000000055324 100 $a20020129d2009 uf 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aInterest Rate Liberalization in China /$fTarhan Feyzioglu, Nathan Porter, Elöd Takáts 205 $a1st ed. 210 1$aWashington, D.C. :$cInternational Monetary Fund,$d2009. 215 $a1 online resource (30 p.) 225 1 $aIMF Working Papers 300 $a"August 2009." 311 08$a9781451917468 311 08$a1451917465 327 $aContents; I. Conclusion; Technical Appendix; References 330 3 $aWhat might interest rate liberalization do to intermediation and the cost of capital in China? China's most binding interest rate control is a ceiling on the deposit rate, although lending rates are also regulated. Through case studies and model-based simulations, we find that liberalization will likely result in higher interest rates, discourage marginal investment, improve the effectiveness of intermediation and monetary transmission, and enhance the financial access of underserved sectors. This can occur without any major disruption. International experience suggests, however, that achieving these benefits without unnecessary instability, requires vigilant supervision, governance, and monetary policy, and a flexible policy toolkit. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/171 606 $aInterest rates$xGovernment policy$zChina 606 $aMonetary policy$zChina 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aCentral Banks and Their Policies$2imf 606 $aCommercial banks$2imf 606 $aDeposit rates$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aEvent Studies$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aFinancial institutions$2imf 606 $aFinancial services$2imf 606 $aGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and Regulation$2imf 606 $aIndustries: Financial Services$2imf 606 $aInformation and Market Efficiency$2imf 606 $aInterbank rates$2imf 606 $aInterest rate policy$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aLoans$2imf 606 $aMarket Structure and Pricing: Oligopoly and Other Forms of Market Imperfection$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aMonetary policy$2imf 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 607 $aChina, People's Republic of$2imf 615 0$aInterest rates$xGovernment policy 615 0$aMonetary policy 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aBanks and banking 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aCentral Banks and Their Policies 615 7$aCommercial banks 615 7$aDeposit rates 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aEvent Studies 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aFinancial institutions 615 7$aFinancial services 615 7$aGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and Regulation 615 7$aIndustries: Financial Services 615 7$aInformation and Market Efficiency 615 7$aInterbank rates 615 7$aInterest rate policy 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aLoans 615 7$aMarket Structure and Pricing: Oligopoly and Other Forms of Market Imperfection 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aMonetary policy 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aMortgages 676 $a332.8;332.82 700 $aFeyzioglu$b Tarhan$01168803 701 $aPorter$b Nathan$01816004 701 $aTakáts$b Elöd$0630729 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bAsia and Pacific Department. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910970773203321 996 $aInterest Rate Liberalization in China$94371645 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04625nam 22006373u 450 001 9911007273603321 005 20230124191152.0 010 $a0-486-16461-6 010 $a1-62198-585-7 035 $a(CKB)2670000000525481 035 $a(EBL)1890335 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001082437 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12502513 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001082437 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11098277 035 $a(PQKB)10189931 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1890335 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL1890335 035 $a(OCoLC)868966088 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000525481 100 $a20141222d2013|||| u|| | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aBasic Optics and Optical Instruments $eRevised Edition 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aNewburyport $cDover Publications$d2013 215 $a1 online resource (727 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a0-486-22291-8 327 $aTitle Page; Copyright Page; PREFACE; Table of Contents; CHAPTER 1 - INTRODUCTION TO THE OPTICALMAN RATING; NAVAL OPTICS; THE OPTICALMAN'S JOB; ASSIGNMENTS, DUTIES, AND TRAINING; SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGES; ADVANCEMENT; HOW TO STUDY THIS RATE TRAINING MANUAL; REFERENCES; CONTENTS OF THIS RATE TRAINING MANUAL; CHAPTER 2 - NATURE OF LIGHT; THEORIES OF LIGHT; SOURCES OF LIGHT; TRANSMISSION OF LIGHT; MOTION OF LIGHT; INTENSITY OF LIGHT; SPEED OF LIGHT; BEHAVIOR OF LIGHT; REFERENCES; CHAPTER 3 - MIRRORS AND PRISMS; MEASUREMENTS IN OPTICS; IMAGE DESCRIPTION; IMAGE TRANSMISSION; REFERENCES 327 $aCHAPTER 4 - LENSESCOMPOSITION OF GLASS; OPTICAL QUALITIES; LENS SHAPES; LENS TERMINOLOGY; LENS FORMULAS; LENS ABERRATIONS; THICK LENSES; MISCELLANEOUS OPTICAL ELEMENTS; REFERENCES; CHAPTER 5 - BASIC OPTICAL SYSTEMS; THE EYE; EYEPIECE SYSTEMS; SIMPLE TELESCOPES; REFERENCES; CHAPTER 6 - DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF OPTICAL INSTRUMENTS; MECHANICAL FEATURES; MOUNTING OPTICAL ELEMENTS; REFERENCES; CHAPTER 7 - MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES; INSPECTION AND TESTING; OVERHAUL AND REPAIR; SOLDERING AND BRAZING; HEAT-TREATING AND TEMPERING; CLEANING AND PAINTING; LENS CLEANING AND CEMENTING; REFERENCES 327 $aCHAPTER 8 - BASIC INSTRUMENT REPAIRREASSEMBLY; COLLIMATION; SEALING. Newly revised and updated, it presents the subject matter with extraordinary clarity, stressing theory and application equally. It will serve admirably to supplement a course in which only one of these factors is emphasized.The book begins with an introduction to the Opticalman rating. It then goes on to discuss the characteristics of light, with special emphasis on wavelengths, reflection, and refraction.
