Based on a large variety of sources, it is a history of a scientific field that is also examined from social and cultural perspectives. Horses, as well as birds of prey used for hawking and falconry, were at the centre of the veterinary literature of that period, but the treatment and cure of other animals was not totally neglected. The Mamluk period is presented here as the time when veterinary medicine reached its pinnacle in medieval Islam and often even surpassed human medicine. 410 0$aSir Henry Wellcome Asian Series$v11. 517 3 $aVeterinary medicine in Islam 606 $aVeterinary medicine$zIslamic Empire$xHistory 606 $aMamelukes 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aVeterinary medicine$xHistory. 615 0$aMamelukes. 676 $a636.0890902 676 $a636.08909560902 700 $aAlkhateeb Shehada$b Housni$0908262 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910462633703321 996 $aMamluks and animals$92031408 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02222nas 2200661-a 450 001 996200801003316 005 20240413023734.0 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2446804-6 035 $a(CKB)110978984350415 035 $a(CONSER)---97656163- 035 $a(EXLCZ)99110978984350415 100 $a19950807a19969999 --- a 101 0 $aeng 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aJournal of emerging markets 210 $aNew York City $cCenter for Global Education, St. John's University$d©1996- 215 $a1 online resource 300 $aRefereed/Peer-reviewed 311 08$aPrint version: Journal of emerging markets. 1083-9798 (DLC) 97656163 (OCoLC)32932303 531 0 $aJ. emerg. markets 606 $aInvestments, Foreign$zDeveloping countries$vPeriodicals 606 $aSecurities$zDeveloping countries$vPeriodicals 606 $aBanks and banking$zDeveloping countries$vPeriodicals 606 $aBanks and banking$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00826867 606 $aInvestments, Foreign$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00978370 606 $aSecurities$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01110743 606 $aAufstrebende Märkte$2stw 606 $aFinanzmarkt$2stw 606 $aGeldpolitik$2stw 606 $aBankenpolitik$2stw 606 $aWertpapierrecht$2stw 606 $aEntwicklungsländer$2stw 606 $aTransformationsstaaten$2stw 607 $aDeveloping countries$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2lcgft 615 0$aInvestments, Foreign 615 0$aSecurities 615 0$aBanks and banking 615 7$aBanks and banking. 615 7$aInvestments, Foreign. 615 7$aSecurities. 615 7$aAufstrebende Märkte. 615 7$aFinanzmarkt. 615 7$aGeldpolitik. 615 7$aBankenpolitik. 615 7$aWertpapierrecht. 615 7$aEntwicklungsländer. 615 7$aTransformationsstaaten. 676 $a332/.097172/4/05 712 02$aSt. John's University (New York, N.Y.).$bCenter for Global Education. 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a996200801003316 920 $aexl_impl conversion 996 $aJournal of emerging markets$92136032 997 $aUNISA
