Gendered Moodsoffers the first feminist analysis of the gendered character of psychotropic drug use, based on studies of long-term psychotropic drug users and the content of drug advertising. The authors argue that gender differences in psychotropic drug use are manifestations of the gendered construction of society as a whole, and that, as a result, women are particularly susceptible to being channelled into a state of dependency on prescribed drugs. Exploring current social scientific debates relating to drug users and providers, Gendered Moodsalso provides a critical review of previous research. It is a much needed introduction to a neglected area of study. 531 $aGENDERED MOODS 606 $aDrugs 606 $aPsychotropic drugs 606 $aWomen 606 $aMedicine 606 $aPharmacy 606 $aSocial Science 606 $aPsychotropic drugs$xDrug use 606 $aWomen 606 $aWomen 606 $aPsychotropic Drugs 606 $aSex Factors 606 $aAffect 606 $aPersons 606 $aEmotions 606 $aEpidemiologic Factors 606 $aCentral Nervous System Agents 606 $aNamed Groups 606 $aQuality of Health Care 606 $aPublic Health 606 $aTherapeutic Uses 606 $aBehavior and Behavior Mechanisms 606 $aHealth Care Quality, Access, and Evaluation 606 $aEnvironment and Public Health 606 $aPsychiatry and Psychology 606 $aPharmacologic Actions 606 $aChemical Actions and Uses 606 $aDelivery of Health Care 606 $aChemicals and Drugs 606 $aPharmacy, Therapeutics, & Pharmacology$2HILCC 606 $aHealth & Biological Sciences$2HILCC 608 $aElectronic books. 615 4$aDrugs. 615 4$aPsychotropic drugs. 615 4$aWomen. 615 4$aMedicine. 615 4$aPharmacy. 615 4$aSocial Science. 615 0$aPsychotropic drugs$xDrug use 615 0$aWomen 615 2$aWomen. 615 2$aPsychotropic Drugs 615 2$aSex Factors. 615 2$aAffect. 615 2$aPersons. 615 2$aEmotions 615 2$aEpidemiologic Factors. 615 2$aCentral Nervous System Agents 615 2$aNamed Groups 615 2$aQuality of Health Care. 615 2$aPublic Health 615 2$aTherapeutic Uses 615 2$aBehavior and Behavior Mechanisms 615 2$aHealth Care Quality, Access, and Evaluation. 615 2$aEnvironment and Public Health. 615 2$aPsychiatry and Psychology 615 2$aPharmacologic Actions. 615 2$aChemical Actions and Uses. 615 2$aDelivery of Health Care. 615 2$aChemicals and Drugs 615 7$aPharmacy, Therapeutics, & Pharmacology 615 7$aHealth & Biological Sciences 676 $a306.461 676 $a615/.788 700 $aEttorre$b Elizabeth M.$0960925 702 $aRiska$b Elianne 801 0$bOCoLC-P 801 1$bOCoLC-P 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996199872603316 996 $aGendered Moods$92178399 997 $aUNISA
