In order to keep the Guidelines up to date, given the rapid pace of scientific developments in the field of stem cell research, the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee was established in 2006 with support from The Ellison Medical Foundation, The Greenwall Foundation, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. This letter report is the committee's first set of amendments to the Guidelines and clarifies earlier recommendations and conclusions, including the criteria for determining which stem cell lines it is acceptable to use. Future deliberations of the committee will address items for which additional information gathering and more extensive debate and discussion will be necessary. 517 3 $aGuidelines for human embryonic stem cell research 517 3 $a2007 amendments to the national academies' guidelines for human embryonic stem cell research 606 $aCloning$xResearch 606 $aEmbryonic stem cells$xResearch 606 $aHuman embryo$xResearch 615 0$aCloning$xResearch. 615 0$aEmbryonic stem cells$xResearch. 615 0$aHuman embryo$xResearch. 676 $a174.2/8 712 02$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$bHuman Embryonic Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee. 712 02$aInstitute of Medicine (U.S.).$bBoard on Health Sciences Policy. 712 02$aNational Academies Press (U.S.) 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910959124503321 996 $aThe National Academies' guidelines for human embryonic stem cell research$94353125 997 $aUNINA
