It presents pioneering findings on the controlled growth of graphene and graphene-based heterostructures, as well as scanning tunneling microscopy/scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STM/STS) studies on their electronic structures. The thesis primarily investigates two classes of graphene-based systems: (i) twisted bilayer graphene, which was synthesized on Rh substrates and manifests van Hove singularities near Fermi Level, and (ii) in-plane h-BN-G heterostructures, which were controllably synthesized in an ultrahigh vacuum chamber and demonstrate intriguing electronic properties on the interface. In short, the thesis offers revealing insights into the energy band engineering of graphene-based nanomaterials, which will greatly facilitate future graphene applications. 410 0$aSpringer Theses, Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research,$x2190-5053 606 $aMaterials?Surfaces 606 $aThin films 606 $aSurfaces (Physics) 606 $aInterfaces (Physical sciences) 606 $aMaterials science 606 $aNanochemistry 606 $aNanotechnology 606 $aSurfaces and Interfaces, Thin Films$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z19000 606 $aSurface and Interface Science, Thin Films$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P25160 606 $aCharacterization and Evaluation of Materials$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z17000 606 $aNanochemistry$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C33000 606 $aNanotechnology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z14000 615 0$aMaterials?Surfaces. 615 0$aThin films. 615 0$aSurfaces (Physics) 615 0$aInterfaces (Physical sciences) 615 0$aMaterials science. 615 0$aNanochemistry. 615 0$aNanotechnology. 615 14$aSurfaces and Interfaces, Thin Films. 615 24$aSurface and Interface Science, Thin Films. 615 24$aCharacterization and Evaluation of Materials. 615 24$aNanochemistry. 615 24$aNanotechnology. 676 $a620.115 700 $aLiu$b Mengxi$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0768495 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910298583003321 996 $aControlled Synthesis and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Study of Graphene and Graphene-Based Heterostructures$91565507 997 $aUNINA
