Most chapters begin with a summary of each culture at the beginning of the colonial era, which is followed by an interdisciplinary reconstruction of prehistoric cultures that have direct ancestor-descendant relationships with the modern ones. An additional chapter presents a comparative discussion of the ethnographic data, including subsistence patterns, material culture, social organization, and religious beliefs, from a diachronic viewpoint. Each chapter includes maps and extensive references. 606 $aPrehistoric peoples$zEast Asia 606 $aIndigenous peoples$zEast Asia 606 $aEthnology$zEast Asia 606 $aCoastal archaeology$zEast Asia 606 $aAntiquities$2fast 606 $aCoastal archaeology$2fast 606 $aEthnology$2fast 606 $aIndigenous peoples$2fast 606 $aManners and customs$2fast 606 $aPrehistoric peoples$2fast 607 $aEast Asia$xAntiquities 607 $aEast Asia$xSocial life and customs 607 $aPacific Coast (Asia)$xAntiquities 607 $aPacific Coast (Asia)$xSocial life and customs 607 $aHokkaido Region (Japan)$xAntiquities 607 $aBering Strait Region$xAntiquities 607 $aAsia$zPacific Coast$2fast 607 $aEast Asia$2fast 607 $aJapan$zHokkaido Region$2fast 607 $aPacific Ocean$zBering Strait Region$2fast 615 0$aPrehistoric peoples 615 0$aIndigenous peoples 615 0$aEthnology 615 0$aCoastal archaeology 615 7$aAntiquities. 615 7$aCoastal archaeology. 615 7$aEthnology. 615 7$aIndigenous peoples. 615 7$aManners and customs. 615 7$aPrehistoric peoples. 676 $a320.95 700 $aZgusta$b Richard$f1953-$01670190 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910809145503321 996 $aThe peoples of northeast Asia through time$94031890 997 $aUNINA
