From a legal perspective, and in the context of Foreign Direct Investment by Transnational Corporations in developing countries, they highlight the lacuna of a holistic international legal framework and its implementation. This book embodies a critique of the complex web of public international law principles on economics, human rights and the environment, and their convergence or lack thereof, related regional (South Asian) and domestic (Sri Lankan) legal arrangements, interventions of states and non-state actors towards just, equitable and sustainable development. It is a quest for a middle path in the multidisciplinary landscape of international law, development and North-South power dynamics; globalization of free trade and investment and of social and environmental interests; and salient aspects of the philosophical, socio-economic and legal fabric of South Asia, viewed against the evolving, controversial and elastic sphere of international relations and law where consensus has hitherto been an elusive dream. 606 $aLaw and economic development 606 $aEnvironmental law, International 606 $aInvestments, Foreign$xLaw and legislation 606 $aSustainable development$xLaw and legislation$zSouth Asia 606 $aHuman rights$zSouth Asia 606 $aInvestments, Foreign$xLaw and legislation$zSouth Asia 606 $aEnvironmental law$zSouth Asia 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aLaw and economic development. 615 0$aEnvironmental law, International. 615 0$aInvestments, Foreign$xLaw and legislation. 615 0$aSustainable development$xLaw and legislation 615 0$aHuman rights 615 0$aInvestments, Foreign$xLaw and legislation 615 0$aEnvironmental law 676 $a300 700 $aPuvimanasinghe$b Shyami Fernando$0933216 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910453898303321 996 $aForeign investment, human rights and the environment$92100492 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01774oam 2200457 a 450 001 9910699146203321 005 20110622140304.0 035 $a(CKB)5470000002400434 035 $a(OCoLC)497190880 035 $a(EXLCZ)995470000002400434 100 $a20100112d2009 ua 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aMetrics for nitrate contamination of ground water at CAFO land application sites$b[electronic resource] $eIowa swine study /$fJerry L.
