The contributions of this book offer investigations of neighbourhoods, city gates, streets, temples and palaces drawing on textual and archaeological sources as well as art. The topics treated in this work encompass the diverse functions of public and marginal spaces in Mesopotamian cities and Rome, the role of agency in the development of Babylonian neighbourhoods, the relationship between public and private in Assyrian palaces, the connection between political strategies and temple building in Sumerian literary texts, and the communicative uses of language in Classical Greek texts to talk about urban space. 410 0$aCulture and History of the Ancient Near East$v68. 606 $aCities and towns$zMiddle East$xHistory 606 $aCities and towns$zRome$xHistory 606 $aCivilization, Classical 606 $aUrbanization$zMiddle East$xHistory 606 $aUrbanization$zRome$xHistory 615 0$aCities and towns$xHistory. 615 0$aCities and towns$xHistory. 615 0$aCivilization, Classical. 615 0$aUrbanization$xHistory. 615 0$aUrbanization$xHistory. 676 $a307.760956 700 $aMay$b Natalie N$01494270 701 $aSteinert$b Ulrike$01494271 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910790617603321 996 $aThe Fabric of cities$93717705 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04177nam 22007815 450 001 9910438048603321 005 20251223183423.0 010 $a9786613943712 010 $a9781283631266 010 $a1283631261 010 $a9783642313530 010 $a3642313531 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-642-31353-0 035 $a(CKB)2560000000090996 035 $a(EBL)994401 035 $a(OCoLC)807718512 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000745995 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11495897 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000745995 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10859693 035 $a(PQKB)10349184 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-642-31353-0 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC994401 035 $a(PPN)168319160 035 $a(EXLCZ)992560000000090996 100 $a20120811d2013 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aInformatics in Control, Automation and Robotics $e8th International Conference, ICINCO 2011 Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands, July 28-31, 2011 Revised Selected Papers /$fedited by Jean-Louis Ferrier, Alain Bernard, Oleg Gusikhin, Kurosh Madani 205 $a1st ed. 2013. 210 1$aBerlin, Heidelberg :$cSpringer Berlin Heidelberg :$cImprint: Springer,$d2013. 215 $a1 online resource (228 p.) 225 1 $aLecture Notes in Electrical Engineering,$x1876-1119 ;$v174 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a9783642431975 311 08$a3642431976 311 08$a9783642313523 311 08$a3642313523 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and author index. 327 $aPart I: Intelligent Control Systems and Optimization -- Part II: Robotics and Automation -- Part III: Signal Processing, Sensors, Systems Modeling and Control -- Part IV: Industrial Engineering, Production and Management. 330 $aThe present book includes a set of selected papers from the eighth "International Conference on Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics" (ICINCO 2011), held in Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands, from 28 to 31 July 2011. The conference was organized in four simultaneous tracks: "Intelligent Control Systems and Optimization", "Robotics and Automation", "Signal Processing, Sensors, Systems Modeling and Control" and "Industrial Engineering, Production and Management". The book is based on the same structure.   ICINCO received 322 paper submissions, not including those of workshops or special sessions, from 52 countries, in all continents. After a double blind paper review performed by the Program Committee only 33 submissions were accepted as full papers and thus selected for oral presentation, leading to a full paper acceptance ratio of 10%. Additional papers were accepted as short papers and posters. A further refinement was made after the conference, based also on the assessment of presentation quality, so that this book includes the extended and revised versions of the very best papers of ICINCO 2011.   Commitment to high quality standards is a major concern of ICINCO that will be maintained in the next editions of this conference, including not only the stringent paper acceptance ratios but also the quality of the program committee, keynote lectures, workshops and logistics. 410 0$aLecture Notes in Electrical Engineering,$x1876-1119 ;$v174 606 $aAutomatic control 606 $aRobotics 606 $aAutomation 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aControl and Systems Theory 606 $aControl, Robotics, Automation 606 $aArtificial Intelligence 615 0$aAutomatic control. 615 0$aRobotics. 615 0$aAutomation. 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 14$aControl and Systems Theory. 615 24$aControl, Robotics, Automation. 615 24$aArtificial Intelligence. 676 $a629.8312 701 $aFerrier$b Jean-Louis$cprofesseur.$0492318 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910438048603321 996 $aInformatics in control, automation and robotics$94194136 997 $aUNINA
