The conference was supported by CorpoBase, DFKI GmbH, and JessenLenz. The conference was collocated with the 13th International Conference on - gorithmic Learning Theory (ALT 2002). Both conferences were held in parallel and shared ?ve invited talks as well as all social events. The combination of ALT 2002 and DS 2002 allowed for a comprehensive treatment of recent de- lopments in computational learning theory and machine learning - some of the cornerstones of discovery science. In response to the call for papers 76 submissions were received. The program committee selected 17 submissions as regular papers and 29 submissions as poster presentations of which 27 have been submitted for publication. This selection was based on clarity, signi'cance, and originality, as well as on relevance to the rapidly evolving ?eld of discovery science. 410 0$aLecture Notes in Computer Science,$x0302-9743 ;$v2534 606 $aDatabase management 606 $aPhilosophy and science 606 $aComputer science 606 $aInformation storage and retrieval 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aInformation technology 606 $aBusiness?Data processing 606 $aDatabase Management$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I18024 606 $aPhilosophy of Science$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/E34000 606 $aComputer Science, general$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I00001 606 $aInformation Storage and Retrieval$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I18032 606 $aArtificial Intelligence$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I21000 606 $aIT in Business$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/522000 615 0$aDatabase management. 615 0$aPhilosophy and science. 615 0$aComputer science. 615 0$aInformation storage and retrieval. 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 0$aInformation technology. 615 0$aBusiness?Data processing. 615 14$aDatabase Management. 615 24$aPhilosophy of Science. 615 24$aComputer Science, general. 615 24$aInformation Storage and Retrieval. 615 24$aArtificial Intelligence. 615 24$aIT in Business. 676 $a501 702 $aLange$b Steffen$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSatoh$b Ken$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSmith$b Carl H$g(Carl Henry),$f1895-$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 712 12$aInternational Conference on Discovery Science. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910208852403321 996 $aDiscovery Science$92968615 997 $aUNINA
