Ma il tortuoso cammino che tale liberazione ha percorso e sta percorrendo, enfatizzando in modo unilaterale la volontà soggettiva, ha rischiato di perdere l?etica per strada: un?etica smarrita della liberazione, nel duplice senso di un?etica che non sa più dove andare, confusa, e di un?etica che è stata persa, a volte per assenza di pensiero. Sono passati poco più di tre decenni dalla nascita di Louise Brown e le biotecnologie legate alla generazione umana sono ormai vissute e rappresentate solo nella loro dimensione tecnico-pratica, spesso banalizzate nel campo delle offerte mediche disponibili. Occorre però fare il punto su due aspetti: il fatto che, pur considerando tutte le variazioni sul tema oggi offerte in ambito tecnoscientifico, tutti noi siamo comunque sempre ?nati di donna?; il riconoscimento che la generazione extracorporea veicola (ed è il frutto di) una concezione dell?essere umano e delle sue relazioni, di riflessioni sull?identità, di teorie della giustizia. Recuperare la pregnanza di pensiero sottesa ed implicita a tutto questo è centrale e umanamente irrinunciabile. Cercando di ricostruire criticamente la storia del pensiero femminile che ha accompagnato la nascita e lo sviluppo delle nuove tecnologie riproduttive, questo testo prende in esame l?apporto di Simone de Beauvoir, mettendo in luce la ricaduta del suo pensiero sull?interpretazione delle nuove biotecnologie e sulla traiettoria della comprensione del rapporto tra maternità e libertà.
