Throughout most of human history, chronic malnutrition has been the norm. During the past three centuries, however, a synergy between improvements in productive technology and in human physiology has enabled humans to more than double their average longevity and to increase their average body size by over 50 per cent. Larger, healthier humans have contributed to the acceleration of economic growth and technological change, resulting in reduced economic inequality, declining hours of work and a corresponding increase in leisure time. Increased longevity has also brought increased demand for health care. Professor Fogel argues that health care should be viewed as the growth industry of the twenty-first century and systems of financing it should be reformed. His book will be essential reading for all those interested in economics, demography, history and health care policy. 410 0$aCambridge studies in population, economy, and society in past time ;$v38. 517 3 $aThe Escape from Hunger & Premature Death, 1700-2100 606 $aFood supply$xHistory 606 $aMalnutrition$xHistory 606 $aMedical care$xHistory 606 $aMortality$xHistory 615 0$aFood supply$xHistory. 615 0$aMalnutrition$xHistory. 615 0$aMedical care$xHistory. 615 0$aMortality$xHistory. 676 $a304.6/4 700 $aFogel$b Robert William$0127172 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910784402803321 996 $aThe escape from hunger and premature death, 1700-2100$93691823 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01645nam0 22003491i 450 001 UON00499631 005 20231205105408.708 010 $a978-88-548-5621-9 100 $a20191104d2012 |0itac50 ba 101 $aeng 102 $aIT 105 $a|||| ||||| 200 1 $aChildren's books & African languages$eSwahili literature for younger readers$fFlavia Aiello Traore$gprefazione di Elena Bertoncini Zùbkovà 210 $aRoma$cAracne$dc2012 215 $a148 p.$d21 cm 410 1$1001UON00502372$12001 $aˆL ‰isola che non c'é$1210 $aRoma$cAracne$v4 606 $aLETTERATURA INFANTILE$xAfrica$xStudi$3UONC096426$2FI 606 $aLetteratura swahili per bambini$3UONC096427$2FI 620 $aIT$dRoma$3UONL000004 676 $a896.39209$cLETTERATURA SWAHILI - Storia e critica$v21 700 1$aAIELLO$bFlavia$3UONV086292$0688915 702 1$aBERTONCINI ZUBKOVA$bElena$3UONV010764 712 $aAracne$3UONV270475$4650 790 1$aAIELLO TRAORE, Flavia$zAIELLO, Flavia$3UONV244113 790 1$aBERTONCINI, Elena$zBERTONCINI ZUBKOVA, Elena$3UONV196981 801 $aIT$bSOL$c20251107$gRICA 899 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$2UONSI 912 $aUON00499631 950 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$dSI LETT S b 067 $eSI 34531 7 067 $sTesto d'esame 951 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$bSI20191402 1J 20191104 996 $aChildren's books & African languages$91576511 997 $aUNIOR
