It begins by illustrating how widespread anti-Jewish feelings were among the Christian population in 19 th century, focusing on blood libel accusations as well as describing the role of modern antisemitism. Secondly, it tries to identify the structural preconditions as well as specific triggers that turned anti-Jewish feelings into collective violence and analyzes the nature of this violence. Lastly, pogroms in Lithuania are compared to anti-Jewish violence in other regions of the Russian Empire and East Galicia. This research is inspired by the cultural turn in social sciences, an approach that assumes that violence is filled with meaning, which is ?culturally constructed, discursively mediated, symbolically saturated, and ritually regulated.? The author argues that pogroms in Lithuania instead followed a communal pattern of ethnic violence and was very different from deadly pogroms in other parts of the Russian Empire. 410 0$aHistorical studies in Eastern Europe and Eurasia ;$vVolume 3. 606 $aAntisemitism$zLithuania$xHistory$y19th century 606 $aJews$zLithuania$xHistory$y19th century 607 $aLithuania$xEthnic relations 610 $aAntisemitism, Ethnic relations, History, Jews, Political persecution, Lithuania, Belarus. 615 0$aAntisemitism$xHistory 615 0$aJews$xHistory 676 $a305.892/40479309034 700 $aStaliu?nas$b Darius$01093056 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910807354203321 996 $aEnemies for a day$94090202 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02754oam 22005652 450 001 9910647208203321 005 20220711013202.0 010 $a0-262-37221-5 010 $a0-262-37220-7 035 $a(CKB)5680000000039171 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC30171888 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL30171888 035 $a(OCoLC)1352969702 035 $a(NjHacI)995680000000039171 035 $a(OCoLC)1311408264 035 $a(OCoLC-P)1311408264 035 $a(MaCbMITP)14220 035 $a(oapen)doab96981 035 $a(EXLCZ)995680000000039171 100 $a20211222d2022 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aSound actions $econceptualizing musical instruments /$fAlexander Refsum Jensenius 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aCambridge$cThe MIT Press$d2022 210 1$aCambridge :$cThe MIT Press,$d2022. 215 $a1 online resource (267 pages) 225 1 $aThe MIT Press 311 08$a0-262-54463-6 327 $aAcknowledgments ix -- Prelude xi -- Part I Musicking -- 1 Music as an Active Process 3 -- 2 Music as an Embodied Process 23 -- 3 Musical Instruments 39 -- Part II Embodiment -- 4 Music-Related Body Motion 53 -- 5 Functional Aspects 71 -- 6 Representations of Sound Actions 85 -- Part III Interaction -- 7 Action-Sound Couplings 99 -- 8 Action-Sound Mappings 123 -- 9 Spatiotemporality 159 -- Part IV Affection -- 10 From Ivory to Silicone 177 -- Acknowledgments ix -- Prelude xi -- Part I Musicking -- 1 Music as an Active Process 3 -- 2 Music as an Embodied Process 23 -- 3 Musical Instruments 39 -- Part II Embodiment -- 4 Music-Related Body Motion 53 -- 5 Functional Aspects 71 -- 6 Representations of Sound Actions 85 -- Part III Interaction -- 7 Action-Sound Couplings 99 -- 8 Action-Sound Mappings 123 -- 9 Spatiotemporality 159 -- Part IV Affection -- 10 From Ivory to Silicone 177. 330 $a"This is a theoretical music technology book, influenced by new research in embodied music cognition.
