While museum exhibitions focus on the art of communicating content, with commercial aspects tending to play a more subordinate role, the goal of trade fair stands and showrooms is to convey a brand image. And at least since large companies like BMW and Mercedes began introducing commercialized museum concepts designed to stage their brands, the phenomenon has come full circle. Not infrequently, planners today must not only accomplish the demanding task of designing an exhibition; they must also meet full service demands, from briefings and CI design to realization. How to do this successfully is the subject of short articles by authors from the relevant fields. With extensively documented project examples organized by presentation or exhibition type, these valuable technical articles offer a detailed roadmap to practical success. 330 $aPractical knowlwdge from briefing to implementation 606 $aTrade shows$xExhibition techniques 606 $aExhibit stands$xDesign and construction 606 $aDisplay of merchandise 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aTrade shows$xExhibition techniques. 615 0$aExhibit stands$xDesign and construction. 615 0$aDisplay of merchandise. 676 $a069 676 $a659.1/52 700 $aSchittich$b Christian$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut.$011437 701 $aSchittich$b Christian$011437 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910464276303321 996 $aExhibitions and displays$92490594 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04490 am 22009013u 450 001 996210303703316 005 20221206180512.0 010 $a90-04-25346-7 024 7 $a10.1163/9789004253469 035 $a(CKB)2670000000147694 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000912998 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11461009 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000912998 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11012791 035 $a(PQKB)11531033 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4636558 035 $a(OCoLC)783208225$z(OCoLC)713214781$z(OCoLC)874966193 035 $a(nllekb)BRILL9789004253469 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30680 035 $a(PPN)174542968 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000147694 100 $a20120403h20122012 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn#|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aAt the edges of states $edynamics of state formation in the Indonesian borderlands /$fMichael Eilenberg 210 $aLeiden - Boston$cBrill$d2012 210 1$aLeiden :$cKITLV Press,$d2012. 210 4$dc2012. 215 $a1 online resource (xvi, 355 pages) $cillustrations, maps; digital, PDF file(s) 225 1 $aVerhandelingen van het Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde ;$v275 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 08$a9067183741 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references (p. 301-337) and index. 327 $aPreliminary Material -- 1: Introduction -- 2: Borders of engagement -- 3: Evading state authority -- 4: Guerrilla warfare and resource extraction -- 5: Patronage and power -- 6: Intersecting spheres of legality and illegality -- 7: Sovereignty and security -- 8: Borderland autonomy and local politics -- 9: Conclusion -- Appendix -- Acronyms and abbreviations -- Glossary -- Bibliography -- Index. 330 $aSet in West Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo, this study explores the shifting relationships between border communities and the state along the political border with East Malaysia. The book rests on the premise that remote border regions offer an exciting study arena that can tell us important things about how marginal citizens relate to their nation-state. The basic assumption is that central state authority in the Indonesian borderlands has never been absolute, but waxes and wanes, and state rules and laws are always up for local interpretation and negotiation. In its role as key symbol of state sovereignty, the borderland has become a place were central state authorities are often most eager to govern and exercise power. But as illustrated, the borderland is also a place were state authority is most likely to be challenged, questioned and manipulated as border communities often have multiple loyalties that transcend state borders and contradict imaginations of the state as guardians of national sovereignty and citizenship.
