Beginning with an account of Rachel's life as a precocious, privileged girl in pre-war Vilna, it goes on to detail life in the Vilna Ghetto, including the development of the FPO and its struggles against the Nazis. Finally, the book chronicles the escape of a group of FPO members into the forest of Belarus, where Rachel became a partisan fighter. Rather than "keep house" back at their bunker like other female partisans, Rachel demanded assignments to active duty alongside the men. Going on military assignments, she burned down a bridge, blew up railroad tracks, and helped bring in food supplies for her fellow partisans. The book opens with an introductory essay by renowned historian Antony Polonsky. 410 0$aJews of Poland 606 $aFareyniḳṭe parṭizaner organizatsye (Vilnius, Lithuania) -- Biography 606 $aMargolis, Raḥel 606 $aWomen guerrillas -- Belarus -- Biography 606 $aWomen guerrillas -- Lithuania -- Biography 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Personal narratives, Jewish 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Personal narratives, Lithuanian 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Underground movements -- Belarus 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Underground movements -- Lithuania 606 $aWomen guerrillas$xUnderground movements$zLithuania$vBiography 606 $aWomen guerrillas$xUnderground movements$zBelarus$vBiography 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945$zLithuania$vPersonal narratives, Lithuanian 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945$zBelarus$vPersonal narratives, Jewish 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945$zVilnius$zLithuania$vBiography 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945 606 $aJewish women 606 $aHistory & Archaeology$2HILCC 606 $aHistory - General$2HILCC 608 $aElectronic books. 615 4$aFareyniḳṭe parṭizaner organizatsye (Vilnius, Lithuania) -- Biography. 615 4$aMargolis, Raḥel. 615 4$aWomen guerrillas -- Belarus -- Biography. 615 4$aWomen guerrillas -- Lithuania -- Biography. 615 4$aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Personal narratives, Jewish. 615 4$aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Personal narratives, Lithuanian. 615 4$aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Underground movements -- Belarus. 615 4$aWorld War, 1939-1945 -- Underground movements -- Lithuania. 615 0$aWomen guerrillas$xUnderground movements 615 0$aWomen guerrillas$xUnderground movements 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945 615 0$aJewish women 615 7$aHistory & Archaeology 615 7$aHistory - General 676 $a940.54864793 700 $aMargolis$b Rachel, $4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut.$01035025 701 $aJackson Piotrow$b F$01035026 701 $aPolonsky$b Antony$0539578 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910457401003321 996 $aA Partisan from Vilna$92454506 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03763nam 2200649Ia 450 001 9910145286203321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a1-281-31229-0 010 $a9786611312299 010 $a0-470-70406-3 010 $a0-470-99655-2 010 $a0-470-99729-X 010 $a1-4175-3639-X 035 $a(CKB)1000000000404130 035 $a(EBL)350886 035 $a(OCoLC)476169475 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000292148 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11911163 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000292148 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10268926 035 $a(PQKB)10926027 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC350886 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL350886 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10240367 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL131229 035 $a(PPN)148595529 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000404130 100 $a20020603d2003 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 02$aA companion to Shakespeare's works$hVolume III$iThe comedies$b[electronic resource] /$fedited by Richard Dutton and Jean E.
