Existing accounts of the rapprochement focus on the shifting balance of power between the USA, China and the Soviet Union, but in this book Goh argues that they cannot adequately explain the timing and policy choices related to Washington's decisions for reconciliation with Beijing. Instead, she applies a more historically sensitive approach that privileges contending official American constructions of China's identity and character. This book demonstrates that ideas of reconciliation with China were already being propagated and debated within official circles in the USA during the 1960s. It traces the related policy discourse and imagery, and examines their continuities and evolution into the early 1970s that facilitated Nixon's new policy. 607 $aUnited States$xForeign relations$zChina 607 $aChina$xForeign relations$zUnited States 607 $aUnited States$xForeign relations$y1961-1963 607 $aUnited States$xForeign relations$y1963-1969 607 $aUnited States$xForeign relations$y1969-1974 676 $a327.73051/09/046 700 $aGoh$b Evelyn$0609017 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910457565503321 996 $aConstructing the U.S. rapprochement with China, 1961-1974$92225584 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01472nam2 22003011i 450 001 UON00074233 005 20231205102403.60 100 $a20020107d1957 |0itac50 ba 101 $afre 102 $aFR 105 $a|||| ||||| 200 1 $aˆL'‰Ethiopie médiévale$fJean Doresse 210 $a360 p., c. e p. di tav., 1 c. geogr. 316 $avol. doppio$5IT-UONSI ETIa/008 bis 316 $aBis$5IT-UONSI ETIa/008 bis 461 1$1001UON00068059$12001 $aˆL'‰Empire du Prêtre-Jean$fJean Doresse$1210 $a[Paris]$cLibrairie Plon$d1957$1215 $a2 v., c. e p. di tav.$d20 cm$v2 606 $aETIOPIA$xStoria$3UONC018628$2FI 620 $aFR$dParis$3UONL002984 676 $a963.02$cSTORIA D'ETIOPIA - 640-1543$v21 700 1$aDoresse$bJean$3UONV018584$0212791 712 $aLibrairie Plon$3UONV248688$4650 801 $aIT$bSOL$c20240220$gRICA 912 $aUON00074233 950 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$dSI ET I a 008 $eSI AA 16577 5 008 950 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$dSI ET I a 008 bis $eSI AA 16578 7 008 bis vol. doppio 950 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$dSI ET I a 008 bis $eSI AA 16579 5 008 bis Bis 996 $aEthiopie médiévale$91207913 997 $aUNIOR
