Conclusion: The Double Conditioning of Viewers, Surveillance, and Television. 330 $aThis interdisciplinary study examines how state surveillance has preoccupied British and American television series in the twenty years since 9/11. Surveillance and Terror in Post-9/11 British and American Television illuminates how the U.S. and U.K., bound by an historical, cultural, and television partnership, have broadcast numerous programs centred on three state surveillance apparatuses tasked with protecting us from terrorism and criminal activity: the prison, the police, and the national intelligence agency. Drawing from a range of case studies, such as Sherlock, Orange is the New Black and The Night Manager, this book discusses how television allows viewers, writers, and producers to articulate fears about an increased erosion of privacy and civil liberties following 9/11, while simultaneously expressing a desire for a preventative mechanism that can stop such events occurring in the future. However, these concerns and desires are not new; encompassing surveillance narratives both past and present, this book demonstrates how television today builds on earlier narratives about panoptic power to construct our present understanding of government surveillance. 606 $aMotion pictures$zGreat Britain 606 $aMotion pictures, American 606 $aTerrorism 606 $aPolitical violence 606 $aBritish Film and TV 606 $aAmerican Film and TV 606 $aTerrorism and Political Violence 615 0$aMotion pictures 615 0$aMotion pictures, American. 615 0$aTerrorism. 615 0$aPolitical violence. 615 14$aBritish Film and TV. 615 24$aAmerican Film and TV. 615 24$aTerrorism and Political Violence. 676 $a812.02508 676 $a791.456556 700 $aRives-East$b Darcie$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01226488 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910485028103321 996 $aSurveillance and Terror in Post-9$92847809 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01108nam0 22002771i 450 001 UON00057450 005 20231205102252.595 100 $a20020107d1975 |0itac50 ba 101 $aeng$aBAL 102 $aPK 105 $a||||e ||||| 200 1 $aEnglish-Biluci Dictionary$fMayer 210 $aLahore$cSheikh Mubarak Ali Publ. & Booksellers$d1975 215 $a219 p.$d23 cm 606 $aLingua baluchi$xDizionari e glossari$3UONC001652$2FI 620 $aPK$dLahore$3UONL000599 686 $aSI II IRA A$cSUBCONT.
