It seeks to understand his contribution against the developments within the preceding Greek and Arabic intellectual milieus, and to appreciate his philosophy as such by emphasising his independence as a critical and systematic thinker. Exploring Avicenna's method of "teaching and learning," it investigates the implications of his account of the natural body as a three-dimensionally extended composite of matter and form, and examines his views on nature as a principle of motion and his analysis of its relation to soul. Moreover, it demonstrates how Avicenna defends the Aristotelian conception of place against the strident criticism of his predecessors, among other things, by disproving the existence of void and space. Finally, it sheds new light on Avicenna's account of the essence and the existence of time. For the first time taking into account the entire range of Avicenna's major writings, this study fills a gap in our understanding both of the history of natural philosophy in general and of the philosophy of Avicenna in particular. 606 $aIslamic philosophy 610 $aArabic philosophy. 610 $aAristotle. 610 $aAvicenna. 610 $anatural philosophy. 615 0$aIslamic philosophy. 676 $a181.5 700 $aLammer$b Andreas$01614726 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910826593903321 996 $aThe elements of Avicenna's physics$93944643 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04056nam 22007575 450 001 9910544849003321 005 20251113183232.0 010 $a3-030-95626-1 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-030-95626-4 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6886986 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6886986 035 $a(CKB)21167558800041 035 $a(PPN)260826766 035 $a(OCoLC)1296533075 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-030-95626-4 035 $a(EXLCZ)9921167558800041 100 $a20220211d2022 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aPotential of Low-Medium Enthalpy Geothermal Energy $eHybridization and Application in Industry /$fby Elisabet Palomo, Antonio Colmenar-Santos, Enrique Rosales-Asensio 205 $a1st ed. 2022. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2022. 215 $a1 online resource (171 pages) 225 1 $aGreen Energy and Technology,$x1865-3537 311 08$aPrint version: Palomo, Elisabet Potential of Low-Medium Enthalpy Geothermal Energy Cham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2022 9783030956257 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references. 327 $aIntroduction -- Measures to Remove Geothermal Energy Barriers in the European Union -- Thermal desalination potential with parabolic trough collectors and geothermal energy in the Spanish southeast -- Economic and environmental benefits of geothermal energy in industrial processes -- Conclusions. . 330 $aThis book highlights the importance of geothermal energy by studying its potential either alone or in combination with solar energy, focusing on its industrial application. Its starting point is to identify in a thorough and precise manner the barriers that hinder the implementation of geothermal energy in Spain and the European Union and the measures to be taken to achieve its diffusion and regular use. Next, the book looks at how geothermal energy could contribute to this sector and to the desalination industry in particular, analysing a specific case in the south of Spain and extrapolating its results to a set of existing desalination plants in the Spanish Mediterranean with really interesting results in terms of economic amortisation and CO2 emissions avoided to the atmosphere. Beyond the desalination industry, this work demonstrates that almost 85% of the industrial processes of all industry in Spain can be carried out with very low, low and medium temperature geothermal resources and even applies its results to a set of existing solar plants, comparing in economic terms the results already obtained with those that would have been obtained if geothermal energy had been applied. 410 0$aGreen Energy and Technology,$x1865-3537 606 $aRenewable energy sources 606 $aIndustrial engineering 606 $aProduction engineering 606 $aEnvironmental engineering 606 $aBiotechnology 606 $aBioremediation 606 $aGeophysics 606 $aRenewable Energy 606 $aIndustrial and Production Engineering 606 $aEnvironmental Engineering/Biotechnology 606 $aGeophysics 615 0$aRenewable energy sources. 615 0$aIndustrial engineering. 615 0$aProduction engineering. 615 0$aEnvironmental engineering. 615 0$aBiotechnology. 615 0$aBioremediation. 615 0$aGeophysics. 615 14$aRenewable Energy. 615 24$aIndustrial and Production Engineering. 615 24$aEnvironmental Engineering/Biotechnology. 615 24$aGeophysics. 676 $a621.44 676 $a333.88094 700 $aPalomo$b Elisabet$01117304 702 $aColmenar Santos$b Antonio 702 $aRosales-Asensio$b Enrique 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910544849003321 996 $aPotential of low-medium enthalpy geothermal energy$92918839 997 $aUNINA
