The goal of this effort was to develop the basis of a deductive spreadsheet, a user productivity application that allows users without formal training in computer science to make decisions about generic data in the same simple way they currently use spreadsheets to make decisions about numerical data. The result is an elegant design supported by the most recent developments in the above disciplines. The first half of the book focuses on the deductive engine that underlies this application, the foundations that users do not see. After giving a mathematical model of traditional spreadsheet applications, we extend them with operators to perform a number of relational tasks, similar to the user view of a database but in a spreadsheet context. Expressing this extension in a logic programming framework is a natural step towards giving it powerful deductive capabilities. The second half of the book deals with the user interface, the part of the application with which the user actually interacts. We review the elements of the graphical user interface of traditional spreadsheet applications and describe practical methodologies for designing user interfaces borrowed from the field of cognitive psychology. We then propose a design that conservatively integrates mechanisms for a user to take advantage of the new deductive capabilities. This is followed by the results of some preliminary usability experiments. The book will appeal to researchers and practitioners in the various areas underlying this work. Researchers will not only find interesting new developments in their domains, but will also learn how to achieve a multidisciplinary focus. Practitioners will find fully developed solutions to numerous problems that are not easily solvable using traditional spreadsheet applications. 410 0$aCognitive technologies. 606 $aElectronic spreadsheets 606 $aDeductive databases 606 $aLogic programming 615 0$aElectronic spreadsheets. 615 0$aDeductive databases. 615 0$aLogic programming. 676 $a005.54 700 $aCervesato$b Iliano$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01058318 801 0$bMiFhGG 801 1$bMiFhGG 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910437583903321 996 $aThe Deductive Spreadsheet$92499234 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01170nam0 22003011i 450 001 UON00008454 005 20231205101922.316 010 $a31-10-02457-8 100 $a20020107d1972 |0itac50 ba 101 $ager 102 $aDE 105 $a|||| 1|||| 200 1 $aJohannes von Apamea$fWerner Strothmann 205 $aBerlin : de Gruyter$b1972 210 $axiii$d210 p. + all.$c24 cm 215 $aL'allegato contiene il testo siriano delle opere di Giovanni di Apamea 410 1$1001UON00004702$12001 $aPatristische Texte und Studien$v11 606 $aPATRISTICA$xTESTI SIRIACI$3UONC002473$2FI 620 $aDE$dBerlin$3UONL003157 686 $aSIPA VII$cSIRIA E PALESTINA - RELIGIONE E FILOSOFIA$2A 700 1$aSTROTHMANN$bWerner$3UONV006987$0443441 712 $aDe Gruyter$3UONV248587$4650 801 $aIT$bSOL$c20240220$gRICA 899 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$2UONSI 912 $aUON00008454 950 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$dSI SIPA VII 019 $eSI SA 29012 5 019 996 $aJohannes von Apamea$91177568 997 $aUNIOR LEADER 01287nam2 22003133i 450 001 MIL0797863 005 20251003044237.0 010 $a9780199573868 100 $a20130215d2010 ||||0itac50 ba 101 | $aeng 102 $aus 181 1$6z01$ai $bxxxe 182 1$6z01$an 200 0 $a2 210 $aNew York$cOkford University Press$d2010 215 $aXVI, p. 1011-2023$d24 cm 300 $aSul dorso: III.-5:101 to IV.C.-8:111. 461 1$1001MIL0797861$12001 $aPrinciples, definitions and model rules of European private law$edraft common frame of reference (DCFR)$fprepared by the Study group on a European civil code and the Research Group on EC private law (Acquis group)$gedited by Christian von Bar and Eric Clive$v2 606 $aDIRITTO PRIVATO$xEUROPA$2FIR$3MILC149312$9I 676 $a346.24$9DIRITTO PRIVATO.
