The EUDR is a demand-side regulatory measure designed to mitigate the European Union's (EU's) contribution to global deforestation and forest degradation, thereby aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss. The regulation has raised concerns among certain countries that its compliance requirements may impose significant costs on their production chains, leading to potential extraterritorial effects. While the EUDR does not directly apply to the normative frameworks of third countries, it mandates compliance for market access to the EU. Therefore, this study addresses the following research question: What are the challenges to the indirect implementation of the EUDR in Brazil? To answer this question, the book analyzes the relationship between Brazil's national forest-related framework and the EUDR. It posits that the extraterritorial nature of the EUDR does not fully consider the unique specificities of other countries, which may lead to potential incompatibilities with their existing regulatory mechanisms. 410 0$aLaw and Criminology Series 606 $aEnvironmental law, International 606 $aCommercial law 606 $aEuropean Economic Community 606 $aInternational law 606 $aTrade regulation 606 $aConflict of laws 606 $aConflict of laws 606 $aComparative law 606 $aInternational Environmental Law 606 $aEuropean Economic Law 606 $aInternational Economic Law, Trade Law 606 $aPrivate International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative Law 615 0$aEnvironmental law, International. 615 0$aCommercial law. 615 0$aEuropean Economic Community. 615 0$aInternational law. 615 0$aTrade regulation. 615 0$aConflict of laws. 615 0$aConflict of laws. 615 0$aComparative law. 615 14$aInternational Environmental Law. 615 24$aEuropean Economic Law. 615 24$aInternational Economic Law, Trade Law. 615 24$aPrivate International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative Law. 676 $a344.046 700 $aWojcikiewicz Almeida$b Paula$0618897 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9911039313003321 996 $aThe Normative and Regulatory Challenges for the Implementation of the European Deforestation-Free Regulation in Third Affected Countries$94454224 997 $aUNINA
