These councils, however, have often been plagued by conflicts and splits. Why? This book is the first attempt to answer this question in full. It does so by zooming in on the history of The Islamic Council of Norway. For many years, this organization functioned well. But after a prolonged conflict, the organization split in two in 2017. Based on a thorough study of the organization, the author claims that pressure from society at large has made it more difficult for such organizations to fulfil their role as Muslim representatives. 410 0$aMiddle East and Islamic Studies E-Books Online, Collection 2025 410 0$aMuslim Minorities ;$v46. 517 3 $aMuslims under Pressure 606 $aHistory 606 $aSocial sciences 615 0$aHistory. 615 0$aSocial sciences. 676 $a910.82 700 $aElgvin$b Olav$01842122 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 912 $a9911018844703321 996 $aThe Islamic Council of Norway and the Challenge of Representing Islam in Europe$94422089 997 $aUNINA
