Research Collaboration Among Firms --$tReferences --$tIndex 330 $aNetworks pervade social and economic life, and they play a prominent role in explaining a huge variety of social and economic phenomena. Standard economic theory did not give much credit to the role of networks until the early 1990's, but since then the study of the theory of networks has blossomed. At the heart of this research is the idea that the pattern of connections between individual rational agents shapes their actions and determines their rewards. The importance of connections has in turn motivated the study of the very processes by which networks are formed. In Connections, Sanjeev Goyal puts contemporary thinking about networks and economic activity into context. He develops a general framework within which this body of research can be located. In the first part of the book he demonstrates that location in a network has significant effects on individual rewards and that, given this, it is natural that individuals will seek to form connections to move the network in their favor. This idea motivates the second part of the book, which develops a general theory of network formation founded on individual incentives. Goyal assesses the robustness of current research findings and identifies the substantive open questions. Written in a style that combines simple examples with formal models and complete mathematical proofs, Connections is a concise and self-contained treatment of the economic theory of networks, one that should become the natural source of reference for graduate students in economics and related disciplines. 606 $aEconomics, Mathematical 606 $aSocial networks$xEconomic aspects 606 $aSocial networks$xMathematical models 615 0$aEconomics, Mathematical. 615 0$aSocial networks$xEconomic aspects. 615 0$aSocial networks$xMathematical models. 676 $a330.0151 686 $a83.01$2bcl 700 $aGoyal$b Sanjeev$0316024 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910970429803321 996 $aConnections$9810695 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02313nam 2200349zu 450 001 9910988186003321 005 20250320143642.0 010 $a9782757443156 010 $a2757443151 035 $a(CKB)37918218400041 035 $a(EXLCZ)9937918218400041 100 $a20250320|2025uuuu || | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 200 13$aLe lyce?e en Angleterre, en Italie et en France $econtribution a? l'analyse des curricula et a? la comparaison internationale en e?ducation 210 $cPresses universitaires du Septentrion$d2025 311 08$a9782757442739 311 08$a2757442732 330 $a"Allant au-dela? des apparences d'e?quivalence entre les syste?mes e?ducatifs sur lesquelles se fondent les e?valuations internationales, cet ouvrage s'attache a? re?ve?ler les conceptions profondes de l'e?ducation qui irriguent les lyce?es dans trois syste?mes e?ducatifs, l'anglais, l'italien et le franc?ais.
