In The Half-Lives of Pat Lowther, Christine Wiesenthal seeks to convey what that legacy actually entails.Combining biography with an analysis of literary and cultural history, Wiesenthal examines the critical legacy of a writer whose remarkable life and poetry have remained overshadowed by her notorious death. Working within a new form of biography, which employs multiple narrative arcs - or 'half-lives' - that interpret Lowther's life and poetry within and across several interpretive frameworks, Wiesenthal retraces the influences on the public memory of the poet. She charts Lowther's complex creative evolution: from her modest beginnings as a high-school drop out and single mother, to her emergence as one of the most distinctive poetic voices of the seventies. A wealth of previously uncollected and unpublished letters, notebook entries, court documents, interviews, and archival materials illuminate Pat Lowther's manifold achievements in her domestic, political, and intellectual lives. The Half-Lives of Pat Lowther is the premier work on this remarkable figure. 606 $aPoets, Canadian$y20th century$vBiography 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aPoets, Canadian 676 $a811/.54 700 $aWiesenthal$b Christine$01051483 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910455677903321 996 $aThe half-lives of Pat Lowther$92482006 997 $aUNINA LEADER 00580nas 2200229zu 450 001 9911003129903321 005 20250514170811.0 011 $a2058-4571 035 $a(CKB)38760131500041 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2856728-6 035 $a(MiFhGG)05BI 035 $a(EXLCZ)9938760131500041 100 $a20250514cuuuuuuuu || | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 200 00$aJournal of Language Evolution 210 $cOxford 311 08$a2058-458X 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9911003129903321 996 $aJournal of Language Evolution$92060527 997 $aUNINA
