This is particularly true of the external borders of the European Union. When Spain joined the European Communities in 1986, Ceuta and Melilla, two cities in North Africa, became such an external border and the six-metre-high fences surrounding them became a symbol of ?Fortress Europe?. But what does this mean for the people who live in such a place? How do they experience everyday life in a ?caged city?, and how do they interpret their experiences? This sociological study focuses on figurations between old-established groupings in the border space between Spain and Morocco, and reconstructs a post-colonial border space in the light of transformation processes and slowly changing power balances, in which belongings and views of history are constantly being renegotiated. Different actors in the border space are studied from the perspective of figurational sociology, the sociology of memory and biographical research. Four detailed case analyses serve to illustrate the complexity of local social realities. These are embedded in historical and present-day social constellations in this border space between Spain and Morocco, and it is made clear that constructions of belonging and power relations in Ceuta and Melilla can only be understood in the context of colonial and post-colonial processes and events. 517 $aVerflochtene Geschichten im postkolonialen Grenzraum 606 $aSociology & anthropology$2bicssc 610 $aborder 610 $aflight 610 $asociological study 615 7$aSociology & anthropology 700 $aBahl$b Eva$4auth$01318570 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910986586303321 996 $aVerflochtene Geschichten im postkolonialen Grenzraum$93033414 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03679oam 2200661I 450 001 9910971529203321 005 20260203181218.0 010 $a1-136-73955-6 010 $a1-283-10341-9 010 $a9786613103413 010 $a1-136-73956-4 010 $a0-203-81892-X 024 7 $a10.4324/9780203818923 035 $a(CKB)2670000000083741 035 $a(EBL)672444 035 $a(OCoLC)773564562 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000543649 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12208387 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000543649 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10533651 035 $a(PQKB)10261490 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC672444 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL672444 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10526431 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL310341 035 $a(OCoLC)727063826 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000083741 100 $a20180706d2011 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aExploring children's creative narratives /$fedited by Dorothy Faulkner and Elizabeth Coates 205 $a1st ed. 210 1$aLondon :$cRoutledge,$d2011. 215 $a1 online resource (289 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a0-415-56563-4 311 08$a0-415-56562-6 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aExploring children's creative narratives : some theoretical, methodological and applied perspectives / D.
