He wrote his twelve-book Church History, the critical edition of the surviving remnants of which is presented here in English translation, at the beginning of the fifth century as a revisionist history of the church and the empire in the fourth and early-fifth centuries. Sometimes contradicting and often supplementing what is found in other histories of the period, Christian or otherwise, it offers a rare dissenting picture of the Christian world of the time.Paperback edition is available from the Society of Biblical Literature (www.sbl-site.org) 410 0$aWritings from the Greco-Roman world (Brill Academic Publishers) ;$vv. 23. 606 $aChurch history$yPrimitive and early church, ca. 30-600 615 0$aChurch history 676 $a270.2 700 $aPhilostorgius$0486432 701 $aAmidon$b Philip R$0902335 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910975169303321 996 $aPhilostorgius$92016993 997 $aUNINA 999 $aThis Record contains information from the Harvard Library Bibliographic Dataset, which is provided by the Harvard Library under its Bibliographic Dataset Use Terms and includes data made available by, among others the Library of Congress
