This theory is tested empirically, using gender specification in personal appellation in modern Swedish as an example, and its applicability is validated. Part of the implementation of this model is a scientific-historiographic and scientific critical analysis in which the traditional assumptions of linguistic research with regard to the representation of forms of personal reference are questioned and transferred into a new pragmatic model for the analysis of personal appellation.
