In response, the Department of Defense developed the SBIR Fast Track initiative, which provides expedited decision-making for SBIR awards to companies that have commitments from outside vendors. To verify the effectiveness of this initiative, the DoD asked the STEP Board to assess the operation of Fast Track. This volume of original field research includes case studies comparing Fast Track and non-Fast Track firms, a large survey of SBIR awardees, and statistical analyses of the impact of regular SBIR and Fast Track awards. Collectively, the commissioned papers and the findings and recommendations represent a significant contribution to our understanding of the SBIR program. 410 0$aCompass series (Washington, D.C.) 517 1 $aSBIR :$ean assessment of the Department of Defense Fast Track initiative 517 3 $aAssessment of the Department of Defense Fast Track initiative 606 $aResearch and development contracts, Government$zUnited States 606 $aSmall business$xResearch$xFinance$xGovernment policy$zUnited States 606 $aHigh technology industries$xResearch$xGovernment policy$zUnited States 615 0$aResearch and development contracts, Government 615 0$aSmall business$xResearch$xFinance$xGovernment policy 615 0$aHigh technology industries$xResearch$xGovernment policy 676 $a354.2/79927452439/0973 701 $aWessner$b Charles W$0857991 712 02$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$bBoard on Science, Technology, and Economic Policy. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910973820903321 996 $aThe Small Business Innovation Research Program$94354271 997 $aUNINA
