It begins with a formal definition and explanation of analytical sustainability indicators, followed by an assessment of the causes of fiscal deficits and their impact on the usual indicators of fiscal and external debt sustainability. The paper then goes beyond the usual analytical indicators by attempting to identify how and through which channels fiscal and other economic policies have affected the behavior of endogenous variables that in one way or another influence sustainability. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2004/007 606 $aFiscal policy$zEritrea 606 $aDebts, External$zEritrea 606 $aCurrency$2imf 606 $aDebt Management$2imf 606 $aDebt$2imf 606 $aDebts, External$2imf 606 $aDebts, Public$2imf 606 $aEconomywide Country Studies: Africa$2imf 606 $aExchange rates$2imf 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aExternal debt$2imf 606 $aFiscal Policies and Behavior of Economic Agents: General$2imf 606 $aFiscal Policy$2imf 606 $aFiscal policy$2imf 606 $aFiscal stance$2imf 606 $aFiscal sustainability$2imf 606 $aForeign Exchange$2imf 606 $aForeign exchange$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aInternational Lending and Debt Problems$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aPublic debt$2imf 606 $aPublic finance & taxation$2imf 606 $aPublic Finance$2imf 606 $aSovereign Debt$2imf 607 $aEritrea$xEconomic policy 607 $aEritrea$xEconomic conditions 607 $aEritrea, The State of$2imf 615 0$aFiscal policy 615 0$aDebts, External 615 7$aCurrency 615 7$aDebt Management 615 7$aDebt 615 7$aDebts, External 615 7$aDebts, Public 615 7$aEconomywide Country Studies: Africa 615 7$aExchange rates 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aExternal debt 615 7$aFiscal Policies and Behavior of Economic Agents: General 615 7$aFiscal Policy 615 7$aFiscal policy 615 7$aFiscal stance 615 7$aFiscal sustainability 615 7$aForeign Exchange 615 7$aForeign exchange 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aInternational Lending and Debt Problems 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aPublic debt 615 7$aPublic finance & taxation 615 7$aPublic Finance 615 7$aSovereign Debt 700 $aYamauchi$b Ayumu$01816242 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bAfrican Dept. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910973347503321 996 $aFiscal Sustainability$94372054 997 $aUNINA
