Janney. 330 $aIn this paper, we show how the intersection of chains of multimodal cohesive ties with choices of relations among sequences of filmic units provides a strong foundation for constructing filmic narrative. Until now bridging the gap between narrative concerns and fine-grained analysis of complex multimodal artefacts such as films has been difficult: fine-grained analyses tend to lose themselves in the wealth of detail revealed and high-level narrative analyses are often pulled towards subjective interpretations. Our definition and use of the constructs of multimodal filmic cohesion and of logical sequential filmic relations establishes functional analytic categories anchored both below, in the fine-grained detail of film, and above, in the range of interpretations that they delimit. We propose this as one way in which we can move towards a more empirically-grounded notion of transmedial narration. 410 0$aPragmatics & beyond ;$vv. 199. 606 $aNarration (Rhetoric)$vCongresses 606 $aDiscourse analysis, Narrative$vCongresses 606 $aDigital media$xInfluence$vCongresses 615 0$aNarration (Rhetoric) 615 0$aDiscourse analysis, Narrative 615 0$aDigital media$xInfluence 676 $a808.001/4 686 $aEC 4500$2rvk 701 $aHoffmann$b Christian R$01800886 701 $aBublitz$b Wolfram$0198268 712 12$a"International Conference on Narrative Revisited: Telling a Story in the Age of New Media" 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910954863703321 996 $aNarrative revisited$94345846 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03075nam 22006852 450 001 9910971909903321 005 20151005020621.0 010 $a1-107-18015-5 010 $a1-280-91746-6 010 $a9786610917464 010 $a0-511-29065-9 010 $a0-511-30194-4 010 $a0-511-29005-5 010 $a0-511-49784-9 010 $a0-511-28879-4 010 $a0-511-28947-2 035 $a(CKB)1000000000351960 035 $a(EBL)311262 035 $a(OCoLC)476097465 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000308105 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11260617 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000308105 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10251421 035 $a(PQKB)11300564 035 $a(UkCbUP)CR9780511497841 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC311262 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL311262 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10182296 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL91746 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000351960 100 $a20090309d2007|||| uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aRemastering morals with Aristotle and Confucius /$fMay Sim 210 1$aCambridge :$cCambridge University Press,$d2007. 215 $a1 online resource (xiii, 224 pages) $cdigital, PDF file(s) 300 $aTitle from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 05 Oct 2015). 311 08$a1-107-41054-1 311 08$a0-521-87093-3 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and indexes. 327 $aConfucius and Aristotle : problems and prospects -- Aristotle in the reconstruction of Confucian ethics -- Categories and commensurability in Confucius and Aristotle : a response to MacIntyre titual and realism in early Chinese science -- Harmony and the mean in the Nicomachean ethics and the Zhongyong -- The moral self in Confucius and Aristotle -- Virtue-oriented politics : Confucius and Aristotle -- Making friends with Confucius and Aristotle. 330 $aAristotle and Confucius are pivotal figures in world history; nevertheless, Western and Eastern cultures have in modern times largely abandoned the insights of these masters. Remastering Morals, published in 2007, provides a book-length scholarly comparison of the ethics of Aristotle and Confucius. May Sim's comparisons offer fresh interpretations of the central teachings of both men. More than a catalog of similarities and differences, her study brings two great traditions into dialog so that each is able to learn from the other. This is essential reading for anyone interested in virtue-oriented ethics. 517 3 $aRemastering Morals with Aristotle & Confucius 606 $aEthics, Ancient 606 $aAristotle 606 $aConfucius 615 0$aEthics, Ancient. 615 0$aAristotle. 615 0$aConfucius. 676 $a170.92/2 700 $aSim$b May$f1962-$01843254 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910971909903321 996 $aRemastering morals with Aristotle and Confucius$94424226 997 $aUNINA
