The purpose of our study is to explicitly quantify information asymmetries by compliance with the IMF's Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS). For FDI, we find statistically significant and robust support for this hypothesis: SDDS subscription increased inflows by an economically relevant magnitude of about 60 percent. We also find evidence of aversion against political and macroeconomic risk as determinants of portfolio and FDI flows anduse a non-parametric test for spatial correlation in the residual of capital flows. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2012/242 606 $aCapital movements 606 $aMacroeconomics 606 $aBalance of payments$2imf 606 $aCapital flows$2imf 606 $aCapital movements$2imf 606 $aCurrency$2imf 606 $aCurrent Account Adjustment$2imf 606 $aData Access$2imf 606 $aData capture & analysis$2imf 606 $aData Transmission Systems$2imf 606 $aData transmission systems$2imf 606 $aEconomic and financial statistics$2imf 606 $aEvent Studies$2imf 606 $aExchange rates$2imf 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aForeign direct investment$2imf 606 $aForeign Exchange$2imf 606 $aForeign exchange$2imf 606 $aInformation and Market Efficiency$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aInternational Investment$2imf 606 $aInvestments, Foreign$2imf 606 $aLong-term Capital Movements$2imf 606 $aMethodology for Collecting, Estimating, and Organizing Macroeconomic Data$2imf 606 $aMultiple or Simultaneous Equation Models: Models with Panel Data$2imf 606 $aPortfolio investment$2imf 606 $aPortfolio management$2imf 606 $aShort-term Capital Movements$2imf 606 $aSpecial Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS)$2imf 607 $aUnited States$2imf 615 0$aCapital movements. 615 0$aMacroeconomics. 615 7$aBalance of payments 615 7$aCapital flows 615 7$aCapital movements 615 7$aCurrency 615 7$aCurrent Account Adjustment 615 7$aData Access 615 7$aData capture & analysis 615 7$aData Transmission Systems 615 7$aData transmission systems 615 7$aEconomic and financial statistics 615 7$aEvent Studies 615 7$aExchange rates 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aForeign direct investment 615 7$aForeign Exchange 615 7$aForeign exchange 615 7$aInformation and Market Efficiency 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aInternational Investment 615 7$aInvestments, Foreign 615 7$aLong-term Capital Movements 615 7$aMethodology for Collecting, Estimating, and Organizing Macroeconomic Data 615 7$aMultiple or Simultaneous Equation Models: Models with Panel Data 615 7$aPortfolio investment 615 7$aPortfolio management 615 7$aShort-term Capital Movements 615 7$aSpecial Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) 700 $aHashimoto$b Yuko$01816176 701 $aWacker$b Konstantin$01816177 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910971228603321 996 $aThe Role of Risk and Information for International Capital Flows$94371931 997 $aUNINA
