Dollarization in Liberia 327 $aAttachment1. Estimating US Dollars in Circulation 330 3 $aLiberia's experience with a dual currency regime, with the U.S. dollar enjoying legal tender status, dates to its founding as a sovereign country in 1847. Following the end of the most recent episode of civil war in late-2003, the new government has expressed interest in strengthening the role of the Liberian dollar. Liberia, however, is heavily dollarized, with the U.S. dollar estimated to account for about 90 percent of money supply. Cross-country experience suggests that dollarization does not preclude monetary policy from achieving its primary objective of price stability, and that successful and lasting dedollarization may be difficult to achieve. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/037 606 $aMoney$zLiberia 606 $aDollar, American 606 $aBank deposits$2imf 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aCurrencies$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aDollarization$2imf 606 $aEconomic sectors$2imf 606 $aFinancial Institutions and Services: General$2imf 606 $aFinancial sector$2imf 606 $aFinancial services industry$2imf 606 $aFinancial services$2imf 606 $aGovernment and the Monetary System$2imf 606 $aIndustries: Financial Services$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMonetary base$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aMonetary Policy$2imf 606 $aMonetary policy$2imf 606 $aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General$2imf 606 $aMonetary Systems$2imf 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aMoney supply$2imf 606 $aMoney$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 606 $aPayment Systems$2imf 606 $aRegimes$2imf 606 $aStandards$2imf 607 $aLiberia$2imf 615 0$aMoney 615 0$aDollar, American. 615 7$aBank deposits 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aBanks and banking 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aCurrencies 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aDollarization 615 7$aEconomic sectors 615 7$aFinancial Institutions and Services: General 615 7$aFinancial sector 615 7$aFinancial services industry 615 7$aFinancial services 615 7$aGovernment and the Monetary System 615 7$aIndustries: Financial Services 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMonetary base 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aMonetary Policy 615 7$aMonetary policy 615 7$aMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: General 615 7$aMonetary Systems 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aMoney supply 615 7$aMoney 615 7$aMortgages 615 7$aPayment Systems 615 7$aRegimes 615 7$aStandards 676 $a332.4;332.49696 700 $aMenkulasi$b Jeta$01816602 701 $aErasmus$b Lodewyk$01816603 701 $aLeichter$b Jules$01816604 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910970784103321 996 $aDedollarization in Liberia-Lessons From Cross-Country Experience$94372838 997 $aUNINA
