To address these issues Nofziger applies a test of Gottfredson and Hirschi's (1990) General Theory of Crime to a range of violent and intimidating acts. She explores bullying, fighting, and weapon related behaviors and tests the effects of self-control and opportunity with survey data on 1200 juveniles. The analysis indicates that greater self-control decreases intimidation and violence and that greater opportunity increases the same behaviors. The study supports self-control theory and suggests that lessened self-control and increased opportunity encourage the behaviors under investigation 410 0$aCriminal justice (LFB Scholarly Publishing LLC) 606 $aChildren and violence$zUnited States 606 $aDeviant behavior$zUnited States 606 $aSelf-control in children$zUnited States 606 $aJuvenile delinquency$zUnited States 615 0$aChildren and violence 615 0$aDeviant behavior 615 0$aSelf-control in children 615 0$aJuvenile delinquency 676 $a302.3/4 700 $aNofziger$b Stacey$01866797 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910968631603321 996 $aBullies, fights, and guns$94474252 997 $aUNINA
