In analyses of real-world social agency data, particular combinations of personal, familial, societal, and juvenile-justice variables emerged as the best explanations for the problem. In addition, Mooradian suggests that culturally-sensitive measures are required in order to represent the particular experience of African-American youth and families. Analysis of some widely used clinical measures indicates that many of the included items and factors are inapplicable to African-Americans. Thus, he presents new scales, developed from these instruments, to improve the validity of measurement and the utility of the results.Historical issues in confinement of juveniles, and implications for further research, policy decisions, and intervention are discussed. 410 0$aCriminal justice (LFB Scholarly Publishing LLC) 606 $aDiscrimination in juvenile justice administration$zUnited States 606 $aJuvenile detention$zUnited States 606 $aAfrican American juvenile delinquents 615 0$aDiscrimination in juvenile justice administration 615 0$aJuvenile detention 615 0$aAfrican American juvenile delinquents. 676 $a364.36/089/96073 700 $aMooradian$b John K.$f1953-$01865360 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910968493803321 996 $aDisproportionate confinement of African-American juvenile delinquents$94472418 997 $aUNINA
