It then introduces a class of powerful simulation method called Markov Chain Monte Carlo method (MCMC), an important machinery behind Subset Simulation that allows one to generate samples for investigating rare scenarios in a probabilistically consistent manner. The theory of Subset Simulation is then presented, addressing related practical issues encountered in the actual implementation. A number of variants of Subset Simulation that can lead to improved performance for specific classes of problems will also be covered. The second half the book introduces the reader to probabilistic failure analysis and reliability-based design, which are laid out in a context that can be efficiently tackled within the context of Subset Simulation or Monte Carlo simulation in general. The result is a general framework that allows the practitioner to investigate reliability sensitivity to uncertain parameters and to explore possible design scenarios systematically for selection of the final design in a convenient but computationally efficient manner via simulation.A unique feature of this book is that it is complemented with a VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) that implements Subset Simulation in the Excel spreadsheet environment. This allows the reader to experiment with the examples in the book and get hands-on experience with simulation. A chapter is devoted to the software framework that allows a practical solution by resolving the risk assessment problem into three uncoupled procedures, namely, deterministic modeling, uncertainty modeling and uncertainty propagation. Presents a powerful simulation method called Subset Simulation for efficient engineering risk assessment and reliability-based design Illustrates application examples with MS Excel spreadsheets allowing readers to gain hands-on experience with simulation techniques Covers theoretical fundamentals as well as advanced implementation issues in practical engineering problems A companion website is available to include the developments of the software ideas "--$cProvided by publisher. 606 $aRisk assessment$xMathematics 606 $aEngineering design$xMathematics 606 $aSet theory 615 0$aRisk assessment$xMathematics. 615 0$aEngineering design$xMathematics. 615 0$aSet theory. 676 $a519.2 686 $aTEC009070$2bisacsh 700 $aAu$b Siu-Kui$0969663 702 $aWang$b Yu 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910132215503321 996 $aEngineering risk assessment and design with subset simulation$92289668 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03260nam 22006375 450 001 9910968334203321 005 20250923000106.0 010 $a9780226634401 010 $a022663440X 024 7 $a10.7208/9780226634401 035 $a(CKB)4100000008730773 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5796571 035 $a(DE-B1597)535541 035 $a(OCoLC)1107879581 035 $a(DE-B1597)9780226634401 035 $a(Perlego)1840589 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000008730773 100 $a20200406h20192019 fg 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aComing Together $eThe Cinematic Elaboration of Gay Male Life, 1945-1979 /$fRyan Powell 210 1$aChicago :$cUniversity of Chicago Press,$d[2019] 210 4$dİ2019 215 $a1 online resource (xiii, 275 pages) $cillustrations 311 08$a9780226634234 311 08$a022663423X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $tFrontmatter --$tContents --$tAcknowledgments --$tIntroduction --$t1. From the underground films of Kenneth Anger and the Gay Girls Riding Club to the gay liberation-era hardcore films and domestic dramas of Joe Gage and James Bidgood, Powell illuminates how central filmmaking and exhibition were to gay socializing and worldmaking. Unearthing scores of films and a trove of film-related ephemera, Coming Together persuasively unsettles popular histories that center Stonewall as a ground zero for gay liberation and visibility. Powell asks how this generation of movie-making-which defiantly challenged legal and cultural norms around sexuality and gender-provided, and may still provide, meaningful models for living. 606 $aHomosexuality in motion pictures 606 $aGay people in motion pictures 606 $aMotion pictures$xSocial aspects 606 $aGay men in mass media$2homoit$3https://homosaurus.org/v4/homoit0004011 606 $aGay cinema$2homoit$3https://homosaurus.org/v4/homoit0002330 606 $aGay films$2homoit$3https://homosaurus.org/v4/homoit0002331 606 $aLGBTQ+ cinema$2homoit$3https://homosaurus.org/v4/homoit0002327 606 $aLGBTQ+ films$2homoit$3https://homosaurus.org/v4/homoit0000869 615 0$aHomosexuality in motion pictures. 615 0$aGay people in motion pictures. 615 0$aMotion pictures$xSocial aspects. 615 7$aGay men in mass media. 615 7$aGay cinema. 615 7$aGay films. 615 7$aLGBTQ+ cinema. 615 7$aLGBTQ+ films. 676 $a321.0230973 700 $aPowell$b Ryan$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01805340 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910968334203321 996 $aComing Together$94353871 997 $aUNINA
