The prize essay was published in Danish in 1818. In contrast to other works by Rask, notably his introduction to the study of Icelandic, it was never reissued until Louis Hjelmslev published a corrected version in Danish as part of his edition of Rask's selected works. While Rask lived, a substantial part of the book was translated into German. 410 0$aAmsterdam studies in the theory and history of linguistic science.$nSeries I,$pAmsterdam classics in linguistics, 1800-1925 ;$vv. 18. 606 $aGothic language$xHistory 606 $aOld Norse language$xHistory 615 0$aGothic language$xHistory. 615 0$aOld Norse language$xHistory. 676 $a439/.609 700 $aRask$b Rasmus$f1787-1832.$0172572 701 $aEge$b Niels$01800697 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910957735003321 996 $aInvestigation of the origin of the Old Norse or Icelandic language$94345618 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03068nam 2200697Ia 450 001 9910967442603321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a9786611105310 010 $a9781281105318 010 $a1281105317 010 $a9781846426186 010 $a1846426189 010 $a9781435602816 010 $a1435602811 035 $a(CKB)1000000000409362 035 $a(EBL)334112 035 $a(OCoLC)191925918 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000158817 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11151792 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000158817 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10150226 035 $a(PQKB)10371820 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC334112 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL334112 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10196787 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL110531 035 $a(OCoLC)174142300 035 $a(Perlego)951850 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000409362 100 $a20061122d2007 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aFrom isolation to intimacy $emaking friends without words /$fPheobe Caldwell 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aLondon $cJessica Kingsley$d2007 215 $a1 online resource (192 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a9781843105008 311 08$a1843105004 327 $aFront cover; Title Page; Contents; Introduction; Part One Learning the Skills of Interaction; 1 First Encounters; 2 Attention; 3 Stress; 4 Body Language; 5 What Are We Trying to Do?; 6 Theory of Mind; 7 How Well Does Using a Person's Body Language Work?; Part 2 Meeting People; 8 Three Children on the Autistic Spectrum; 9 Cerebral Palsy; 10 Does Age Matter?; 11 Changing Rooms; 12 Lost Voices, Learned Language; 13 Rub It Better; 14 What Next?; REFERENCES; SUBJECT INDEX; AUTHOR INDEX; Back cover; 330 $aIf you have no language, how can you make yourself understood, let alone make friends? Phoebe Caldwell has worked for many years with people with severe intellectual disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorder who are non-verbal, and whose inability to communicate has led to unhappy and often violent behaviour. In this new book she explores the nature of close relationships, and shows how these are based not so much on words as on the ability to listen, pay attention, and respond in terms that are familiar to the other person. This is the key to Intensive Interaction, which she shows is a s 606 $aNonverbal communication 606 $aAutistic people$xRehabilitation 606 $aLearning disabled$xRehabilitation 606 $aIntimacy (Psychology) 615 0$aNonverbal communication. 615 0$aAutistic people$xRehabilitation. 615 0$aLearning disabled$xRehabilitation. 615 0$aIntimacy (Psychology) 676 $a616.8588206 700 $aCaldwell$b Phoebe$01804082 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910967442603321 996 $aFrom isolation to intimacy$94358109 997 $aUNINA
