Contrary to the previous Canadian exchange rate literature, this paper finds that both energy and nonenergy commodity prices have an influence on the Canadian dollar, and some upward pressure on the exchange rate would therefore be expected. Model results suggest, however, that the impact on other tradable goods exports is limited. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/070 606 $aOil sands industry$xEconomic aspects$zCanada 606 $aMonetary policy$zCanada 606 $aAlberta energy$2Iptcnc 606 $aBarrel (unit)$2Iptcnc 606 $aDutch disease$2Iptcnc 606 $aEconomics$2Iptcnc 606 $aEconomy$2Iptcnc 606 $aExchange rate$2Iptcnc 606 $aGross domestic product$2Iptcnc 606 $aNatural gas$2Iptcnc 606 $aOil sands$2Iptcnc 606 $aPetroleum$2Iptcnc 615 0$aOil sands industry$xEconomic aspects 615 0$aMonetary policy 615 7$aAlberta energy 615 7$aBarrel (unit) 615 7$aDutch disease 615 7$aEconomics 615 7$aEconomy 615 7$aExchange rate 615 7$aGross domestic product 615 7$aNatural gas 615 7$aOil sands 615 7$aPetroleum 676 $a338.2/72830971 700 $aBayoumi$b Tamim$0122763 701 $aMühleisen$b Martin$01816596 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910967319303321 996 $aEnergy, the Exchange Rate, and the Economy$94372813 997 $aUNINA
