He showed special talents at an early age, so that he was already a fully trained lawyer at the age of 21. He then joined a renowned law firm which he managed successfully for many years on his own. In 1879 Sieveking was appointed the first president of the newly founded Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in 1879. Until his death, for thirty years, he remained president of the Court of First Instance, which earned him a high reputation as an expert on maritime law. In addition, he was actively involved in the founding of Hamburg University, which is why he was also a member of the first board of trustees of the Hamburg Scientific Foundation. Surrounded by three representative buildings, the Sievekingplatz in Hamburg still reminds us of him to this day. 606 $aHistory$2bicssc 610 $a19th century 610 $a20th century 610 $aBoard of Trustees 610 $aErnst Friedrich Sieveking 610 $aHamburg 610 $aHamburg Scientific Foundation 610 $aHanseatic Higher Regional Court 610 $aPresident 610 $aScience and Humanities 610 $aUniversity of Hamburg 615 7$aHistory 700 $aSchröder$b Hans Joachim$0967061 801 0$bScCtBLL 801 1$bScCtBLL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910149671003321 996 $aErnst Friedrich Sieveking. Yet, in different ways, they are working hard to improve public sector governance in areas such as democratic accountability, openness, transparency, integrity, government trust, high performance standards and combating corruption. The chapters in this book analyze and compare the experiences of Asian countries in carrying out governance reforms. Some of the questions tackled in this title are: how common reform packages designed for developed countries are implemented in developing countries? What happens in the reform diffusion process? What are the obstacles to reform success? The diversity of the Asian region is well reflected in these chapters, covering a range of topics, theories, methodologies, and findings. The book will be of interest to both academics and practitioners researching and working with public policy in the region. 410 0$aResearch in public policy analysis and management ;$vv. 17. 606 $aPolitical Science$xGovernment$xNational$2bisacsh 606 $aPolitical Science$xPublic Affairs & Administration$2bisacsh 606 $aCentral government$2bicssc 606 $aPublic administration$2bicssc 606 $aPublic administration 615 7$aPolitical Science$xGovernment$xNational. 615 7$aPolitical Science$xPublic Affairs & Administration. 615 7$aCentral government. 615 7$aPublic administration. 615 0$aPublic administration. 676 $a351.5 701 $aWescott$b Clay$01858300 701 $aPhitthaya Bowonwatthana$01858301 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910967065403321 996 $aComparative governance reform in Asia$94460429 997 $aUNINA
