The first compounds to emerge in German (simultaneously with the emergence of noun and verb inflection and of diminutives) were subordinate and endocentric two-member noun-noun compounds without linking elements. The first correct linking element which emerged later on is -n after word-final schwa of the first member. Order of emergence of compound patterns can be related to factors such as frequency, productivity, morphotactic and morphosemantic transparency. Left-headed and exocentric compounds had not yet emerged in our child speech corpora, and only one coordinate compound appeared. 410 0$aAmsterdam studies in the theory and history of linguistic science.$nSeries IV,$pCurrent issues in linguistic theory ;$v311. 606 $aGrammar, Comparative and general$xCompound words 606 $aGrammar, Comparative and general$xWord formation 615 0$aGrammar, Comparative and general$xCompound words. 615 0$aGrammar, Comparative and general$xWord formation. 676 $a415 701 $aScalise$b Sergio$0148739 701 $aVogel$b Irene$f1952-$0198866 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910966235103321 996 $aCross-disciplinary issues in compounding$94344151 997 $aUNINA
