Michelle R. Scott uses Smith's life as a lens to investigate broad issues in history, including industrialization, Southern rural to urban migration, black community development in the post-emancipation era, and black working-class gender conventions. _x000B__x000B_Arguing that the rise of blues culture and the success of female blues artists like Bessie Smith are connected to the rapid migration and industrialization in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Scott focuses her analysis on Chattanooga, Tennessee, the large industrial and transportation center where Smith was born. This study explores how the expansion of the Southern railroads and the development of iron foundries, steel mills, and sawmills created vast employment opportunities in the postbellum era. Chronicling the growth and development of the African American Chattanooga community, Scott examines the Smith family's migration to Chattanooga and the popular music of black Chattanooga during the first decade of the twentieth century, and culminates by delving into Smith's early years on the vaudeville circuit. 606 $aSingers$zUnited States$vBiography 606 $aBlues (Music)$zTennessee$zChattanooga$xHistory and criticism 606 $aAfrican Americans$zTennessee$zChattanooga$xHistory 607 $aChattanooga (Tenn.)$xHistory 615 0$aSingers 615 0$aBlues (Music)$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aAfrican Americans$xHistory. 676 $a782.421643092 676 $aB 700 $aScott$b Michelle R.$f1974-$01871222 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910966006203321 996 $aBlues empress in black Chattanooga$94479939 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02810nam 22005173 450 001 9911052929003321 005 20260125110058.0 010 $a1-394-35226-3 010 $a1-394-30473-0 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC32466908 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL32466908 035 $a(CKB)44558397400041 035 $a(CaSebORM)9781394304721 035 $a(OCoLC)1564842030 035 $a(OCoLC-P)1564842030 035 $a(EXLCZ)9944558397400041 100 $a20251226d2025 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aAI in Legal Tech $eHow Generative AI Is Transforming Legal Technology and the Practice of Law 205 $a1st ed. 210 1$aNewark :$cJohn Wiley & Sons, Incorporated,$d2025. 210 4$dİ2026. 215 $a1 online resource (339 pages) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a1-394-30472-2 327 $aCOVER -- HALF TITLE PAGE -- TITLE PAGE -- COPYRIGHT -- CONTENTS -- PART 1: BRAVE NEW LEGAL AI WORLD -- CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION -- CHAPTER TWO: AI FOR THE UNINITIATED: A CRASH COURSE -- CHAPTER THREE: FLAVORS OF AI -- CHAPTER FOUR: THE GENERATIVE AI RENAISSANCE -- CHAPTER FIVE: MUST-HAVE AI GADGETS FOR THE MODERN LEGAL PROFESSIONAL -- CHAPTER SIX: THE FINE PRINT: ETHICS OF AI IN LAW -- PART II: AI MAKEOVER FOR YOUR LEGAL CAREER -- CHAPTER SEVEN: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE LEGAL AI -- CHAPTER EIGHT: ROBOTS STOLE MY JOB: AI AND THE LEGAL JOB MARKET -- CHAPTER NINE: SUITS, SYNTAX, AND SUPERPOWERS: WHY LAW PROS ARE BUILT FOR THE AI AGE -- CHAPTER TEN: THE FUTURE OF AI IS LAWYERED -- PART III: YOUR LEGAL AI SURVIVAL GUIDE -- CHAPTER ELEVEN: THE PROMPT PRIMER: LAWYERED EDITION -- CHAPTER TWELVE: YOUR LEGAL AI ROSETTA STONE: COMPREHENSIVE AI GLOSSARY FOR LEGAL -- CHAPTER THIRTEEN: TALES FROM THE FRONT LINES: HOW WE LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE LEGAL AI -- INDEX -- EULA. 330 $aExplore the potential and risks of generative AI in the legal industry In AI in Legal Tech: How Generative AI Is Transforming Legal Technology and the Practice of Law, legal-tech pioneer and guru Catherine Casey--aka, TechnoCat--delivers a startlingly insightful and up-to-date discussion of the risks and opportunities presented by generative AI in. 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aLaw$xData processing 606 $aTechnology and law 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 0$aLaw$xData processing. 615 0$aTechnology and law. 676 $a006.3 700 $aCasey$b Cat$01887978 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9911052929003321 996 $aAI in Legal Tech$94526151 997 $aUNINA
