This book is a new and comprehensive collection of selected compositions by Edwards. Providing excerpts not only from many of his most famous published writings but also from previously unpublished works, it will be essential reading for scholars, students, and all those interested in early American history and religion. The selections are divided into two major categories. The first deals with the "public" Edwards and traces the development of his thinking from his earliest days as a Yale student to the end of his life and ministry. These writings consist of treatises and sermons he published, including Faithful Narrative, Religious Affections, and Freedom of the Will, as well as the notes that remained in manuscript until after his death, most importantly the "Miscellanies," Edwardss main series of theological entries. The second category provides details of the "personal" Edwards as revealed in autobiographical writings and in correspondence and family papers. 410 0$aYale Nota bene. 606 $aTheology 606 $aPuritans$zNew England$xDoctrines 606 $aReformed Church$xDoctrines 615 0$aTheology. 615 0$aPuritans$xDoctrines. 615 0$aReformed Church$xDoctrines. 676 $a230/.58 676 $a230/.58 700 $aEdwards$b Jonathan$f1703-1758.$0859610 701 $aSmith$b John E$g(John Edwin),$f1921-2009.$09711 701 $aStout$b Harry S$0859611 701 $aMinkema$b Kenneth P$01871600 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910964972203321 996 $aA Jonathan Edwards reader$94480484 997 $aUNINA
