Popular opinion and sociological theory, particularly the social disorganization perspective, predict that immigration should increase levels of homicide where immigrants settle, but Lee s analysis (statistical, spatial, and temporal) generally finds that this is not the case. His results cast doubt on the taken-for-granted idea that immigration disrupts communities, weakens social control, and increases homicide levels. Rather, recent arrivals appear to play a positive role in these three cities, suggesting that conventional theories of crime be re-examined in light of the potentially revitalizing impact of immigration." 410 0$aNew Americans (LFB Scholarly Publishing LLC) 606 $aCrime$zUnited States$xSociological aspects 606 $aHomicide$zUnited States 606 $aEthnic groups$zUnited States 606 $aNoncitizen criminals$zUnited States$xPublic opinion 606 $aEmigration and immigration$xSocial aspects 607 $aUnited States$xEmigration and immigration 615 0$aCrime$xSociological aspects. 615 0$aHomicide 615 0$aEthnic groups 615 0$aNoncitizen criminals$xPublic opinion. 615 0$aEmigration and immigration$xSocial aspects. 676 $a364.2/5 700 $aLee$b Matthew T$01820170 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910964883403321 996 $aCrime on the border$94381931 997 $aUNINA
