Conclusions: the Impact of International Norms on Islamist Politics --Notes -- Bibliography -- Index. 330 $aHow do the norms of the liberal international order affect the activity of Islamist movements? This book analyzes and assesses the extent to which Islamist groups, which have traditionally attempted to shield their communities from "alien" moral conceptions, have been affected by the rules and principles that regulate international society. Through an analysis of Lebanon's Hezbollah, Filippo Dionigi concludes that international norms are among the most significant factors changing Islamist politics. The result is a precarious but innovative equilibrium in which Islamists are forced to rethink idea of an allegedly "authentic" Islamic morality and the legitimacy of international norms. 410 0$aMiddle East Today,$x2945-7025 606 $aIslamic fundamentalism$zLebanon 606 $aIslam and politics$zLebanon 606 $aInternational Relations 606 $aMiddle Eastern Politics 606 $aPolitical Science 606 $aPolitical Theory 606 $aPolitical History 606 $aPrivate International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative Law 607 $aLebanon$xPolitics and government$y1975-1990 607 $aLebanon$xPolitics and government$y1990- 615 0$aIslamic fundamentalism 615 0$aIslam and politics 615 14$aInternational Relations. 615 24$aMiddle Eastern Politics. 615 24$aPolitical Science. 615 24$aPolitical Theory. 615 24$aPolitical History. 615 24$aPrivate International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative Law. 676 $a324.5692/082 676 $a324.5692082 700 $aDionigi$b Filippo$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01790927 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bNZ-WeVUL 801 2$bNZ-WeVUL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910964365703321 996 $aHezbollah, Islamist Politics, and International Society$94327771 997 $aUNINA
