In 2012 the crystallographic community celebrated 100 years of X-ray diffraction in honour of the pioneering experiment in 1912 by Max von Laue, Friedrich and Knipping. Experimental developments e.g. brilliant X-ray sources, area detection, and developments in computer hardware and software have led to increasing applications in X-ray analysis. This completely revised edition is a guide for practical work in X-ray analysis. An introduction to basic crystallography moves quickly to a practical and experimental treatment of structure analysis. Emphasis is placed on understanding results and avoiding pitfalls. Essential reading for researchers from the student to the professional level interested in understanding the structure of molecules. 606 $aX-ray crystallography 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aX-ray crystallography. 676 $a548 686 $aUQ 5600$2rvk 700 $aLuger$b Peter$f1943-$01045131 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910453787103321 996 $aModern X-ray analysis on single crystals$92471152 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04514nam 2200745 a 450 001 9910963558803321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a9786611726782 010 $a9780309178068 010 $a0309178061 010 $a9781281726780 010 $a1281726788 010 $a9780309110372 010 $a0309110378 035 $a(CKB)1000000000536647 035 $a(EBL)3564147 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000237604 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11237722 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000237604 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10221734 035 $a(PQKB)11245365 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3564147 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10235160 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL172678 035 $a(OCoLC)191905918 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3564147 035 $a(Perlego)4734181 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000536647 100 $a20081103d2008 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aReview of the toxicologic and radiologic risks to military personnel from exposures to depleted uranium during and after combat /$fCommittee on Toxicologic and Radiologic Effects from Exposure to Depleted Uranium During and After Combat, Committee on Toxicology, Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology, Division on Earth and Life Sciences, National Research Council of the National Academies 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aWashington, D.C. $cNational Academies Press$d2008 215 $a1 online resource (172 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a9780309110365 311 08$a030911036X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references. 327 $aIntroduction and technical background -- Toxicokinetics of depleted uranium -- Toxic effects of uranium on the kidneys -- Toxic effects of uranium on the lungs -- Toxic effects of uranium on other organ systems -- Radiologic effects of depleted uranium -- Uranium carcinogenicity and genotoxicity -- Evaluation of the Army's Capstone Report -- Appendix A: Biographic Information on the Committee on Toxicologic and Radiologic Effects from Exposure to Depleted Uranium During and After Combat -- Appendix B: Risk of selected cancers and nonmalignant diseases in uranium workers. 330 $a"Since the 1980s, the U.S. military has used depleted uranium in munitions and in protective armor on tanks. Depleted uranium is a toxic heavy metal and is weakly radioactive. Concerns have been raised about the adverse health effects from exposure to depleted uranium that is aerosolized during combat. Some think it may be responsible for illnesses in exposed veterans and civilians. These concerns led the Army to commission a book, Depleted Uranium Aerosol Doses and Risks: Summary of U.S. Assessments, referred to as the Capstone Report that evaluates the health risks associated with depleted uranium exposure. This National Research Council book reviews the toxicologic, radiologic, epidemiologic, and toxicokinetic data on depleted uranium, and assesses the Army's estimates of health risks to personnel exposed during and after combat. The book recommends that the Army re-evaluate the basis for some of its predictions about health outcomes at low levels of exposure, but, overall, the Capstone Report was judged to provide a reasonable characterization of the exposure and risks from depleted uranium."--Publisher. 606 $aDepleted uranium$xHealth aspects 606 $aDepleted uranium$xEnvironmental aspects 606 $aProjectiles 606 $aTank warfare$xHealth aspects 606 $aDepleted uranium$xMilitary applications 615 0$aDepleted uranium$xHealth aspects. 615 0$aDepleted uranium$xEnvironmental aspects. 615 0$aProjectiles. 615 0$aTank warfare$xHealth aspects. 615 0$aDepleted uranium$xMilitary applications. 676 $a615.925431 712 02$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$bCommittee on Toxicologic and Radiologic Effects from Exposure to Depleted Uranium During and After Combat. 712 02$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$bBoard on Environmental Studies and Toxicology. 712 02$aNational Academies Press (U.S.) 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910963558803321 996 $aReview of the toxicologic and radiologic risks to military personnel from exposures to depleted uranium during and after combat$94357361 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03631nam 22007335 450 001 9910484399103321 005 20251113173929.0 010 $a3-642-41218-1 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-642-41218-9 035 $a(CKB)3710000000024403 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001049615 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11661892 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001049615 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11033822 035 $a(PQKB)10960839 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-642-41218-9 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3093351 035 $a(PPN)176115862 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000024403 100 $a20131007d2013 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn#008mamaa 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aRough Sets, Fuzzy Sets, Data Mining, and Granular Computing $e14th International Conference, RSFDGrC 2013, Halifax, NS, Canada, October 11-14, 2013.
