In the first part of Aspect, Tense and Action in the Arabic dialect of Beirut , Stefan Bruweleit defines the three categories and describes the interplay between them at a metagrammatical level. In the next parts he applies the theoretical findings of the first part to the Arabic dialect of Beirut, investigates the ways temporal, aspectual and actional categories are expressed and shows how to decide whether the verb system of the dialect has to be regarded as aspectual or as temporal. One of the main results of the work is the fact that a thorough understanding of a verb system is only possible through an understanding of the categorial interplay of aspect, tense and action. 410 0$aStudies in Semitic Languages and Linguistics$v79. 606 $aArabic language$xDialects 606 $aArabic language$xDialects$2fast 606 $aArabic language$xSocial aspects$2fast 606 $aArabic language$xVariation$2fast 606 $aLanguage and languages$2fast 606 $aLanguages in contact$2fast 606 $aUrban dialects$2fast 607 $aBeirut (Lebanon)$xLanguages 607 $aArab countries$2fast 607 $aLebanon$zBeirut$2fast 615 0$aArabic language$xDialects. 615 7$aArabic language$xDialects. 615 7$aArabic language$xSocial aspects. 615 7$aArabic language$xVariation. 615 7$aLanguage and languages. 615 7$aLanguages in contact. 615 7$aUrban dialects. 676 $a492.7/7 700 $aBruweleit$b Stefan$01674863 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910963305103321 996 $aAspect, tense and action in the Arabic dialect of Beirut$94039940 997 $aUNINA
