The demography of the Byzantine Turks and the legal and cultural aspects of their entrance into Greek society are discussed in detail. Greek and Turkish bilingualism of Byzantine Turks and Tourkophonia among Greeks were distinctive features of Byzantine society of the time. Basing his arguments upon linguistic, social, and cultural evidence found in a wide range of Greek, Latin, and Oriental sources, Rustam Shukurov convincingly demonstrates how Oriental influences on Byzantine life led to crucial transformations in Byzantine mentality, culture, and political life. The study is supplemented with an etymological lexicon of Oriental names and words in Byzantine Greek. 410 0$aMedieval Mediterranean ;$vVolume 105. 606 $aTurkic peoples$zByzantine Empire 607 $aByzantine Empire$xHistory$y1081-1453 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aTurkic peoples 676 $a949.5004943509023 700 $aShukurov$b Rustam$g(Rustam),$01066422 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910511689903321 996 $aThe byzantine turks, 1204-1461$92549154 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03568nam 2200781Ia 450 001 9910959796103321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a9786610925872 010 $a9781280925870 010 $a1280925876 010 $a9780889205420 010 $a0889205426 010 $a9781435628397 010 $a143562839X 024 7 $a10.51644/9780889205420 035 $a(CKB)1000000000247038 035 $a(EBL)685772 035 $a(OCoLC)753479545 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000156071 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11147283 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000156071 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10113485 035 $a(PQKB)10913632 035 $a(CaPaEBR)405771 035 $a(CaBNvSL)jme00326985 035 $a(OCoLC)137342347 035 $a(MdBmJHUP)muse14426 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL685772 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10135303 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL92587 035 $a(VaAlCD)20.500.12592/fg0b70 035 $a(schport)gibson_crkn/2009-12-01/3/405771 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC685772 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3243713 035 $a(DE-B1597)667473 035 $a(DE-B1597)9780889205420 035 $a(Perlego)1706503 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000247038 100 $a20011030d2001 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aFlorence Nightingale on public health care /$fLynn McDonald, editor 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aWaterloo, Ont. $cWilfrid Laurier University Press$dc2001- 215 $a1 online resource (724 pages) 225 1 $aThe collected works of Florence Nightingale ;$vv. 6 311 0 $a9780889204461 311 0 $a0889204462 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aCONTENTS; Acknowledgments; Dramatis Personae; List of Illustrations; Florence Nightingale: A Pre?cis of the Collected Works; Introduction to Volume 6; Key to Editing; Notes on Nursing for the Labouring Classes; Colonial Sanitary Statistics and Aboriginal Depopulation; ''Sick-Nursing and Health-Nursing''; Workhouse Infirmaries in Nightingale's Day; The Liverpool Workhouse Infirmar y; The Extension of Workhouse Nursing to Metropolitan London; Other Workhouse Infirmaries; The Extension of Nursing to Workhouse Infirmaries in Ireland; Nature, Disease, Germs and Contagion; Rural Health 327 $aMedical Care of Employees, Former Employees and Tenants; Appendix; Appendix: Biographical Sketches; Bibliography; Index 330 $aThis sixth volume in the Collected Works of Florence Nightingale reports Nightingale's considerable accomplishments in the development of a public health care system based on health promotion and disease prevention.
