In examining eighteen different, if related, accounts of the reign of the Visigothic king Wamba (r. 671-680) this book aims to analyse the nature of the discourse of the late medieval Iberian chronicle. By means of a detailed analysis of the content and narrative techniques of the chronicles concerned, the book seeks to address the question: to what extent is it possible to speak of a genre of late medieval Iberian chronicles?
